TruGlo TG13GLFST TFX Day/Night Sights MOS Adapter Set for 9mm, .40, and .45 Glock 17/19/34/35/41 Gen 4 Review

Let’s Talk About TruGlo TG13GLFST TFX Day/Night Sights MOS Adapter Set for 9mm, .40, and .45 Glock 17/19/34/35/41 Gen 4

The TruGlo TG13GLFST TFX Day/Night Sights MOS Adapter Set promises to be a game-changer for Glock owners who want enhanced visibility in all lighting conditions. Designed for 9mm, .40, and .45 Glock 17/19/34/35/41 Gen 4 pistols equipped with the Modular Optic System (MOS), these sights combine the best of both worlds: tritium for nighttime illumination and fiber optics for daytime brightness. TruGlo aims to provide a durable, reliable, and highly visible sighting system that excels in any environment.

I’ve spent years squinting at standard Glock sights in low-light scenarios, a constant source of frustration during tactical training exercises and early morning hunts. My aging eyes needed an upgrade that wouldn’t break the bank but would significantly improve target acquisition speed and accuracy. This led me to research day/night sight options, and the TruGlo TFX set seemed to hit the sweet spot between performance and price.

Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the robust construction. The sights felt solid and well-made, with a reassuring weight that suggested durability. The steel construction and Fortress Finish hinted at resistance to wear and tear, a crucial factor for any piece of gear that sees regular use.

I considered other options like the Ameriglo GL-429 and the XS Sight Systems DXT2 Big Dot, but the TruGlo TFX sights won me over with their combination of tritium and fiber optic technology in a streamlined package. While the Ameriglo sights offered similar tritium illumination, they lacked the fiber optic component for enhanced daytime visibility. The XS Sights, while excellent for close-quarters combat, felt less precise for longer-range shooting.

My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. I was excited about the potential improvement in visibility, but also slightly concerned about potential installation difficulties and whether the fiber optic element would prove too fragile for hard use. Only real-world testing would reveal if the TruGlo TFX sights lived up to the hype.

Real-World Testing: Putting TruGlo TG13GLFST TFX Day/Night Sights MOS Adapter Set for 9mm, .40, and .45 Glock 17/19/34/35/41 Gen 4 to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the TruGlo TFX sights at an indoor shooting range, and then again at an outdoor range with varying light conditions. The indoor range provided an excellent environment to evaluate the tritium illumination in near darkness, while the outdoor range allowed me to assess the fiber optic performance under bright sunlight and overcast skies. I mounted the sights on my Glock 19 Gen 4 MOS.

The sights performed exceptionally well in all lighting conditions. The tritium vials provided a clear and consistent glow in the dark, allowing for rapid target acquisition. The fiber optic element amplified ambient light during the day, resulting in a bright and easily visible sight picture.

The installation process was relatively straightforward, requiring a sight pusher tool (which I already owned) and a small amount of patience. It took about 30 minutes to remove the factory sights and install the TruGlo TFX set. I did need to make minor adjustments to the windage using the sight pusher.

My first surprise was how much faster I could acquire a sight picture, particularly in transitional lighting. The combination of tritium and fiber optics truly made a difference, shaving valuable seconds off my reaction time. There were no immediate issues, and the sights felt securely mounted after tightening the set screws.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, including weekly range sessions and participation in a tactical pistol course, the TruGlo TFX sights have proven to be remarkably durable. There are no signs of the fiber optic element cracking or fading. The Fortress Finish has held up well against scratches and abrasion.

The sights have endured hundreds of rounds of ammunition without loosening or shifting. I’ve also subjected them to various cleaning solvents and lubricants without any adverse effects. The maintenance is simple: just wipe them down with a clean cloth after each shooting session.

Compared to my previous experience with standard Glock polymer sights, the TruGlo TFX sights are a significant upgrade. The improved visibility and durability have boosted my confidence and performance. I find myself shooting more accurately and consistently in a wider range of lighting conditions. They have exceeded my expectations in every way.

Breaking Down the Features of TruGlo TG13GLFST TFX Day/Night Sights MOS Adapter Set for 9mm, .40, and .45 Glock 17/19/34/35/41 Gen 4

Specifications

The TruGlo TG13GLFST TFX Day/Night Sights MOS Adapter Set is specifically designed for 9mm, .40, and .45 Glock 17/19/34/35/41 Gen 4 pistols equipped with the Modular Optic System (MOS). These sights feature a Tritium/Fiber Optic construction, providing both nighttime illumination and daytime visibility. The front sight is green with a white outline, while the rear sight is green.

The sights are made from Steel and Aluminum offering enhanced durability. The illumination type is Tritium, ensuring a constant glow in low-light conditions without the need for batteries. The set includes an adapter plate that is required for mounting on the MOS slide.

These specifications are important because they directly impact the sight’s performance and reliability. The tritium illumination ensures visibility in complete darkness. The fiber optic component enhances visibility in bright light.

Performance & Functionality

The TruGlo TG13GLFST TFX Day/Night Sights excel in their primary function: providing a clear and easily acquired sight picture in any lighting condition. The combination of tritium and fiber optics offers excellent contrast and visibility, allowing for rapid target acquisition and accurate shots. The F.A.S.T. rear sight aids in quicker target acquisition.

The sights are exceptionally reliable, maintaining their zero even after extended use and exposure to various weather conditions. The only potential weakness is the fiber optic element, which could be vulnerable to damage from extreme impacts. Overall, they meet and exceed expectations for a high-quality day/night sight system.

Design & Ergonomics

The sights boast a low-profile design that does not interfere with holster compatibility or concealability. The steel and aluminum construction feels robust and well-made. The white outline on the front sight helps to draw the eye and focus attention on the target.

The sight design has little to no learning curve. Installation is easy and the sights are intuitive. The Fortress Finish makes for easy cleaning and resists wear and tear.

Durability & Maintenance

Given the steel and aluminum construction, and the protective Fortress Finish, the TruGlo TFX sights are built to last. The sealed tritium vials have a lifespan of approximately 12 years, ensuring years of reliable illumination.

The sights require minimal maintenance, primarily consisting of wiping them down with a clean cloth to remove dirt and debris. The protective coating helps to prevent rust and corrosion. Regular cleaning will prolong its overall life.

Accessories and Customization Options

The TruGlo TG13GLFST TFX Day/Night Sights MOS Adapter Set includes everything needed for installation on compatible Glock models. TruGlo offers optional rear sight inserts in green, orange, white, and glow-in-the-dark. This allows for customizing the sight picture to individual preferences.
