Let’s Talk About AGH SSIW-0771-RH-XXX SHAPE SHIFT 4.0 IWB LC9S SSIW0771RHXX
The AGH SSIW-0771-RH-XXX SHAPE SHIFT 4.0 IWB LC9S SSIW0771RHXX holster, crafted by Alien Gear Holsters, promises a revolutionary approach to concealed carry. Designed specifically for the Ruger LC9S, it aims to offer unparalleled comfort, retention, and versatility in an inside-the-waistband (IWB) configuration.
My journey to this holster began with a simple yet persistent problem: finding a comfortable and reliable IWB solution for my LC9S that wouldn’t break the bank. I needed a holster that would allow for deep concealment while remaining accessible and secure during daily activities and potentially, during a self-defense scenario.
Unboxing the Shape Shift 4.0, I was immediately impressed by the modular design. The materials felt robust, and the build quality appeared solid, exceeding my initial expectations given the price point.
Compared to other IWB holsters I’ve used, like the Galco Stow-N-Go and the CrossBreed SuperTuck (for other firearms), the Shape Shift 4.0’s modularity and potential for multiple carry positions intrigued me. I chose this holster because of the promise of ultimate adaptability and specific tailoring to my Ruger LC9S.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The sheer number of included components seemed a bit overwhelming, but the potential for customization had me excited to see how the Shape Shift 4.0 would perform in real-world scenarios.
Real-World Testing: Putting AGH SSIW-0771-RH-XXX SHAPE SHIFT 4.0 IWB LC9S SSIW0771RHXX to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the AGH SSIW-0771-RH-XXX SHAPE SHIFT 4.0 IWB LC9S SSIW0771RHXX at my local shooting range during a concealed carry qualification course. I also wore it throughout a typical workday that involved a mix of office tasks and moderate physical activity.
The holster performed surprisingly well in both dry and slightly humid conditions. The Alien Gear Holsters design promoted a comfortable and secure fit inside my waistband, even during dynamic movements.
The initial draw stroke required some adjustment, as the retention was tighter than I was accustomed to. After a few practice draws, I felt more confident in accessing my LC9S efficiently and safely.
The only issue I noticed during the first use was a slight pinching sensation around the edges of the holster when sitting for extended periods. This was easily remedied with a minor adjustment to the ride height.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of daily carry, the Shape Shift 4.0 has proven to be a reliable and adaptable holster. It still retains my LC9S securely, and the retention hasn’t noticeably loosened over time.
There are minimal signs of wear and tear, primarily some slight scuffing on the polymer components from regular use. The holster has maintained its structural integrity and continues to provide excellent support.
Maintenance is straightforward; a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove any dirt or sweat. I periodically check the screws and hardware to ensure they remain properly tightened.
Compared to other IWB holsters I’ve used, the Shape Shift 4.0 offers a superior level of customization and comfort for my LC9S, particularly given its price point. It definitely outperforms many of the more generic “one-size-fits-most” options on the market.
