First Impressions of Troy OpticsPlanet Exclusive Angled AR-15 MLOK Foregrip
The Troy OpticsPlanet Exclusive Angled AR-15 MLOK Foregrip promises enhanced ergonomics and improved control for AR-15 platforms. As an experienced outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’m always looking for quality accessories that can genuinely improve a shooter’s performance. I’ve been using various vertical and angled foregrips over the years, and I’m interested to see how Troy’s offering stacks up against the competition.
I needed a foregrip that would promote a more natural wrist angle during extended shooting sessions to combat wrist fatigue I was experiencing. I was also seeking enhanced control for faster target acquisition. Upon unboxing, the Troy foregrip felt solid and well-made. The anodized aluminum finish appeared durable, and the angled design looked aggressive and functional.
Compared to my Magpul AFG-2 and BCM Gunfighter Vertical Grip Mod 3, the Troy offering is noticeably slimmer and more angular. I chose the Troy OpticsPlanet Exclusive Angled AR-15 MLOK Foregrip over other options because of Troy’s reputation for quality and the exclusive features offered on the OpticsPlanet version, like the barricade mounting plate. My initial impression was excitement tempered with cautious optimism, hoping it would live up to the Troy name.
Real-World Testing: Putting Troy OpticsPlanet Exclusive Angled AR-15 MLOK Foregrip to the Test
First Use Experience
I initially tested the Troy OpticsPlanet Exclusive Angled AR-15 MLOK Foregrip at my local outdoor shooting range. This allowed me to evaluate it under controlled conditions. The weather was sunny and dry, providing optimal conditions to focus on the grip’s performance without external factors impacting my results. Installation onto my MLOK handguard was straightforward and secure.
The grip immediately improved my hand placement and felt more natural than a traditional vertical grip. During rapid-fire drills, I found it easier to maintain control and keep my muzzle on target. There were no initial issues, although I noticed the aluminum became quite warm after several magazines.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Troy OpticsPlanet Exclusive Angled AR-15 MLOK Foregrip has proven to be a worthwhile addition to my AR-15. The anodized finish has held up well, with no noticeable scratches or wear marks despite being subjected to regular handling and use. Cleaning has been simple, requiring only a quick wipe-down with a lightly oiled cloth to remove any residue.
The Troy foregrip outperformed my expectations in terms of comfort and control compared to my previous polymer grips. I feel more confident in my ability to handle the rifle effectively during various drills. While the aluminum can get warm, it hasn’t been a significant issue with gloves, even during extended range sessions.
