First Thoughts on the Streamlight Holsters & Carrying Accessories Poly, Super, Ring Holder
The Streamlight Holsters & Carrying Accessories Poly, Super, Ring Holder is a seemingly simple, yet potentially crucial piece of gear for anyone relying on Streamlight Stinger flashlights. I’ve carried Streamlight Stingers professionally for years, and the need for a reliable and accessible carry method is paramount. This small ring holder promises to be a straightforward solution, replacing bulkier holster options with a minimalist approach.
For years, I’ve struggled with finding the perfect holster solution for my Streamlight Stinger. Many duty holsters are bulky and cumbersome, snagging on gear and hindering movement. I was searching for a low-profile, reliable way to keep my Stinger readily accessible without adding unnecessary bulk to my belt.
Upon unboxing (or rather, unwrapping, as it’s a single small item), the Streamlight ring holder appears deceptively simple. The black polymer feels sturdy and well-molded, exhibiting the no-nonsense design I’ve come to expect from Streamlight. It’s lightweight and unobtrusive, a welcome change from the larger, more complex holsters I’ve used in the past.
Compared to a full-sized kydex holster or even a leather belt slide, the Streamlight Holsters & Carrying Accessories Poly, Super, Ring Holder represents a significant reduction in size and weight. While a traditional holster offers more protection, this ring holder prioritizes accessibility and minimalism. It’s a direct competitor to simple belt clips, but with the added security of a closed ring. My initial thought is that if this ring holder lives up to its promise of secure and unobtrusive carry, it could become my new go-to method for carrying my Stinger.
My first impression is cautiously optimistic. The simplicity is appealing, and the Streamlight name gives me confidence in its durability. Whether it can handle the rigors of daily duty use remains to be seen, but I’m eager to put it to the test.
Real-World Testing: Putting Streamlight Holsters & Carrying Accessories Poly, Super, Ring Holder to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Streamlight Holsters & Carrying Accessories Poly, Super, Ring Holder during a week-long wilderness survival training course. This environment provided a challenging but relevant setting to assess its performance. I used it to carry my Streamlight Stinger DS, accessing it frequently during low-light training exercises and nighttime navigation.
The ring holder performed admirably in various conditions. Even when soaked from rain and caked in mud, it maintained a secure grip on the Stinger. The ease of drawing and re-holstering the flashlight, even with gloved hands, was surprisingly smooth. There were no unexpected releases or accidental drops, a testament to the ring holder’s secure design.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of near-daily use, the Streamlight Holsters & Carrying Accessories Poly, Super, Ring Holder has proven to be remarkably resilient. I’ve worn it on my duty belt, during hiking trips, and even while working on my vehicles. It has consistently held up without any significant signs of wear and tear.
The polymer material is surprisingly tough, resisting scratches and abrasions even after rubbing against rough surfaces. The ring hasn’t deformed or loosened, maintaining a snug fit around the Stinger. Cleaning is simple; a quick rinse with water and a wipe-down is all it takes to keep it in good condition. Compared to previous holster experiences where leather cracked or kydex split, the Streamlight ring holder has exceeded my expectations in terms of durability.
