First Impressions of Duramag AR-15 .400 Legend 10-Round Rifle Magazine
The Duramag AR-15 .400 Legend 10-Round Rifle Magazine promises to be a reliable feeding device for AR-15 platforms chambered in the potent .400 Legend cartridge. With the rising popularity of the .400 Legend for hunting and sport shooting, having dependable magazines is crucial. This magazine, manufactured by Duramag, aims to provide just that with its stainless-steel construction and 10-round capacity, and its affordability certainly adds to its appeal.
As an avid hunter and shooting enthusiast, I’ve been increasingly drawn to the .400 Legend for its impressive ballistics and terminal performance. Finding quality magazines for this caliber has been a bit of a challenge, as not all AR-15 magazines are created equal when it comes to reliably feeding this larger round. The Duramag option caught my eye as a potential solution to this issue.
Upon receiving the Duramag AR-15 .400 Legend 10-Round Rifle Magazine, I was immediately impressed by its solid feel and clean matte black finish. The stainless-steel construction suggests a high level of durability and corrosion resistance, vital for outdoor use. It felt noticeably sturdier than some of the polymer magazines I’ve used in the past.
Compared to a standard 5.56 AR-15 magazine, the Duramag variant felt more robust, likely due to the need to accommodate the larger diameter of the .400 Legend cartridge. I also considered magazines from Lancer and Magpul, but ultimately chose the Duramag for its appealing price point and the positive user feedback I’d seen online. My first impression was definitely positive, and I was eager to see how it would perform at the range.

After several range sessions spanning a couple of months, the Duramag AR-15 .400 Legend 10-Round Rifle Magazine continues to perform admirably. I’ve put approximately 300 rounds through it, and it’s shown no signs of malfunction or degradation. The matte black finish has held up well, with only minor wear marks.
Cleaning the magazine is relatively simple. It easily disassembles for thorough maintenance. Compared to some of the cheaper magazines I’ve used, this Duramag offers far superior reliability and build quality.
