First Impressions of Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target
The Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target promises more than just a static bullseye; it offers interactive feedback with each shot. Do All Outdoors advertises this as a five-in-one target, which immediately piqued my interest as a seasoned shooting enthusiast. For just over fifty dollars, the prospect of a reactive target system seemed like a worthwhile investment to hone my rimfire skills.
I was searching for a dynamic target to enhance my .22 LR practice sessions, something beyond paper targets. The Dialed Spinner seemed perfect for dialing in my accuracy at various distances, adding an element of fun to routine range trips. Unboxing revealed a solid steel construction with a bright orange powder coat finish. It felt heavier than expected, suggesting decent durability.
Compared to other rimfire targets I’ve used, like basic auto-reset options and simpler spinning targets, the Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target offered a unique proposition. The multiple reactive targets in one compact unit set it apart from single-target spinners and the more complex, expensive auto-reset systems. Initially, I was excited about its potential for improving my shooting and providing immediate feedback.
Real-World Testing: Putting Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target was at my local outdoor range. The range offered distances from 25 to 100 yards, perfect for testing the target’s reactivity. Setting it up was easy since no assembly was required.
The spinner sections worked as advertised, flipping over with each successful hit. The .22 LR rounds sent the targets spinning even at 100 yards, but the target tipped over easily if the supports weren’t firmly planted. Initially, I was impressed with the instant gratification of seeing the spinners react to my shots, even if I needed to push the uprights deeper into the ground.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target has held up reasonably well. There are a few dings and slight bends in the steel plates, but nothing that significantly impairs its function. The bright orange powder coat has started to chip in some areas, exposing the bare steel underneath.
Cleaning is minimal, usually just wiping off any dirt or debris. Compared to other steel targets I own, the Dialed Spinner requires virtually no maintenance other than straightening the spinners occasionally. While it’s not the most robust target I’ve used, it has provided consistent, enjoyable practice.
Breaking Down the Features of Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target
Specifications
The Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target is designed for .22-caliber rimfire, soft lead bullets only. It is constructed from steel and features a bright orange powder coat finish. The target consists of five separate steel plates that swing freely when hit.
The entire unit measures 7 1/2 inches. It weighs approximately 5 pounds. These specifications matter because they define the target’s intended use and durability.
Performance & Functionality
The Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target performs its primary function of reacting to .22 LR hits effectively. The spinner plates provide instant feedback, making it easy to identify successful shots. However, the target’s lightweight design can make it prone to tipping over, especially with slightly heavier impacts.
The main strength is its simplicity and ease of use; no assembly is required. Its weakness lies in its stability, which can be problematic on uneven terrain. Overall, it meets expectations for a budget-friendly reactive target but falls short of offering superior durability.
Design & Ergonomics
The Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target features a straightforward design with five individual spinning targets arranged around a central point. The steel construction provides decent durability, though the lightweight nature makes it susceptible to tipping. The bright orange powder coat enhances visibility, making it easy to spot at a distance.
The target is user-friendly with no learning curve. However, the shallow ground stakes require careful placement to ensure stability.
Durability & Maintenance
The steel construction ensures a reasonable lifespan for the Do All Outdoors Dialed Spinner Target. Expect some wear and tear with continued use, including dings and chipping of the powder coat finish.
Maintenance is minimal. Straightening the spinners after heavy use and occasionally touching up the paint can prolong its life.
