XS Sight Systems DXT2 Big Dot Sight HK Review

Let’s Talk About XS Sight Systems DXT2 Big Dot Sight HK

The XS Sight Systems DXT2 Big Dot Sight HK aims to improve target acquisition in all lighting conditions for HK pistols. Manufactured by XS Sight Systems, these sights promise enhanced visibility thanks to their large, high-contrast front sight and low-profile V-notch rear. I was looking for an upgrade to the factory sights on my HK P30 that offered better low-light performance and faster target acquisition.

My first impression upon unboxing was that the sights felt incredibly solid and well-made. The steel construction gave me confidence in their durability, and the optic orange front sight was indeed very bright and noticeable. Compared to Trijicon HD sights, which I’ve used on other pistols, the XS Sight Systems DXT2 Big Dot Sight HK has a significantly larger front sight. This difference in size was the deciding factor for me, as I prioritize rapid target acquisition in high-stress scenarios. I was definitely excited to see how these sights would perform on the range.

Real-World Testing: Putting XS Sight Systems DXT2 Big Dot Sight HK to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the XS Sight Systems DXT2 Big Dot Sight HK at my local indoor shooting range. The controlled lighting allowed me to immediately evaluate the sight’s low-light performance. I also ran some drills focusing on quick target transitions and rapid fire.

The DXT2 Big Dot shined in these scenarios. The large front sight made it incredibly easy to pick up and track, even when moving between targets quickly. There were no issues and the sights performed above and beyond expectations.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of use, including weekly range sessions and a couple of outdoor training courses, the XS Sight Systems DXT2 Big Dot Sight HK have proven to be extremely durable. There are no noticeable scratches or wear marks on the steel. Maintaining the sights is very simple.

I wipe them down with a lightly oiled cloth after each range session. They definitely outperform the factory sights in low-light and rapid-fire scenarios, offering a significant improvement in target acquisition speed.
