First Impressions of X-Treme Bullets Pistol Bullets .355 Caliber 147 Grain Round Nose
The world of reloading components can be a rabbit hole, filled with promises of tighter groups and enhanced performance. Among the myriad choices, the X-Treme Bullets Pistol Bullets .355 Caliber 147 Grain Round Nose caught my eye due to their reputation for consistency and affordability. As someone who burns through a considerable amount of 9mm ammunition, finding a reliable and cost-effective bullet is paramount.
My journey to these bullets began with a frustrating string of inconsistent results using cheaper, bulk-produced projectiles. I needed something that would offer tighter groupings and more predictable performance in my 9mm pistols. I was looking for a bullet that would be consistently sized, weighted, and plated.
The initial impression upon receiving the X-Treme Bullets was positive. The bullets were neatly packaged and visually uniform, with a consistent copper plating. They appeared to be well-made and free of any obvious defects.
I’ve previously used both the Berry’s plated bullets and the Hornady HAP projectiles. The Berry’s are a decent budget option, but their plating can sometimes be inconsistent. The Hornady HAP are excellent, but significantly more expensive. I chose the X-Treme Bullets hoping to find a middle ground: better quality than Berry’s at a more reasonable price than Hornady.
I was cautiously optimistic. The quality seemed promising, but the real test would be how they performed on the range. I was hoping to find a reliable and accurate bullet for high-volume practice and potentially even some local competitions.
Real-World Testing: Putting X-Treme Bullets Pistol Bullets .355 Caliber 147 Grain Round Nose to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the X-Treme Bullets at my local outdoor shooting range. The weather was typical for a summer afternoon: hot and humid. I loaded them into my 9mm Glock 19 and my Sig Sauer P320, both known for their reliability.
The initial results were encouraging. The bullets fed smoothly in both pistols, and the recoil felt manageable. The accuracy was noticeably better than what I was accustomed to with the cheaper bulk bullets I had been using.
I didn’t encounter any significant issues during the first range session, but I did notice that the copper plating seemed slightly thinner than the Hornady HAP bullets. This didn’t seem to affect performance, but it was something I noted.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the X-Treme Bullets Pistol Bullets .355 Caliber 147 Grain Round Nose have proven to be quite reliable. I’ve put several thousand rounds downrange, and they have consistently delivered good performance. The bullets have held up well.
I haven’t noticed any significant wear and tear on my reloading dies or barrels, which is a testament to the consistency of the bullets. Cleaning has been straightforward, and I haven’t encountered any excessive leading or copper fouling. This has saved me a significant amount of time.
Compared to my previous experiences with other bullets, the X-Treme Bullets have been a noticeable upgrade. They offer a good balance of accuracy, reliability, and affordability, making them ideal for high-volume shooting. I find that it surpasses the bulk bullets I had been using prior.
