First Impressions of Woodhaven Calls Custom Calls Carbon Striker All Weather Striker
The Woodhaven Calls Custom Calls Carbon Striker All Weather Striker enters a market saturated with turkey call strikers, promising superior performance and all-weather reliability. Woodhaven Calls has a reputation for quality, and I was eager to see if this striker lived up to the hype. Would its carbon construction translate to consistently crisp yelps and purrs, regardless of the elements?
My primary issue was finding a striker that could reliably produce consistent calls, even after a morning spent in damp woods or a sudden downpour. Many wood strikers absorb moisture, leading to muffled or inconsistent tones, a hunter’s nightmare when a gobbler is closing in. The promise of all-weather performance was what drew me to the Woodhaven Calls Custom Calls Carbon Striker All Weather Striker.
Upon unboxing, the Woodhaven Calls Custom Calls Carbon Striker All Weather Striker felt lightweight yet solid, with a smooth, almost polished carbon shaft. The black and grey color scheme is subtle and functional, and the handle feels comfortable in hand. The initial build quality seems excellent.
Compared to my go-to hickory striker and a friend’s acrylic model, the Woodhaven Calls Custom Calls Carbon Striker All Weather Striker immediately felt different. The hickory striker, while familiar, is prone to moisture issues; the acrylic striker, while weather-resistant, sometimes produces a high-pitched sound I dislike. I was hoping this carbon striker would offer the best of both worlds: consistent tone and reliable all-weather performance. My initial reaction was cautiously optimistic, excited to put it to the test and hear how it performed on various friction calls.
