First Impressions of Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only
The Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only promises to be a foundational element for crafting comfortable and stylish pontoon seating. It’s a base, the very beginning of a relaxing zone on the water, designed by Wise, a company known for its dedication to marine seating solutions. My initial curiosity stemmed from a desire to upgrade my aging pontoon boat, replacing mismatched and worn seating with a cohesive and comfortable layout.
The allure of a “premier” pontoon base immediately sparked my interest. I was tired of flimsy, generic seating that lacked proper support and aesthetic appeal. I envisioned transforming my pontoon into a floating oasis, and the Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only seemed like the ideal starting point.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the robust plastic construction. It felt solid, not at all like the brittle plastic used in some cheaper marine products. The dimensions – 23.5 inches wide, 11 inches high, and 39.25 inches long – seemed well-proportioned for creating a comfortable corner seating arrangement.
Compared to a generic, universal boat seat base I previously considered, the Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only clearly offered a more refined and purpose-built solution. A flimsy, all-wood construction base I had seen elsewhere paled in comparison to the Wise product’s durability. Opting for this over building my own from scratch also saved significant time and potential errors.
My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. The construction appeared promising, and the dimensions seemed correct, but the true test would be in its installation and real-world performance. I was excited to see how this base would contribute to the overall transformation of my pontoon boat.
Real-World Testing: Putting Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial test involved installing the Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only onto my 20-foot pontoon boat. Installation was straightforward, thanks to pre-drilled mounting points that aligned perfectly with my existing deck. The entire process took less than an hour, a significant improvement over previous seating projects that required extensive modifications.
The weather during the initial test was typical for late spring: sunny with occasional light rain showers. The plastic construction of the base proved its worth immediately, easily shedding water and showing no signs of warping or discoloration from the moisture. The seat held firm while underway, even when traversing a few choppy waves.
The ease of use was a pleasant surprise. The Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only provided a stable and secure foundation for the seat cushions and backrests that I added. There were no unexpected wobbles or shifts, offering a sense of confidence and safety.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, including numerous fishing trips and leisurely cruises, the Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only has held up remarkably well. There are no visible signs of wear and tear, even after exposure to sun, rain, and occasional splashes of fish slime. The sturdy plastic construction remains rigid and supportive.
Maintenance has been incredibly simple. A quick wipe down with a mild soap and water solution is all it takes to keep the base looking clean and fresh. Compared to the constant scrubbing and varnishing required for wooden boat components, this effortless maintenance is a major advantage.
In comparison to the old, sagging boat seats that I replaced, the Wise Premier Pontoon 28in Radius Corner – Base Only offers a vastly superior seating experience. The new corner seating configuration has transformed the layout of my pontoon, providing a more comfortable and sociable space for friends and family. It significantly outperforms the old setup.
