First Impressions of Wise Deluxe Helm Chair w/ Arms & Dual Cup Holders
The Wise Deluxe Helm Chair w/ Arms & Dual Cup Holders enters a market flooded with seating options, promising comfort and functionality for boaters of all stripes. From weekend anglers to seasoned yachtsmen, the promise of a comfortable and supportive helm chair is universally appealing, and Wise aims to deliver just that. This chair is designed to provide support during long days on the water.
What led me to this product was a quest for a seating solution that could withstand the rigors of offshore fishing while providing the necessary lumbar support for extended periods at the helm. I needed something that could take a beating from saltwater, sun, and the occasional rogue wave. My old chair was falling apart after just a few seasons.
Unboxing the Wise Deluxe Helm Chair revealed a sturdy-looking chair with a clean, white vinyl finish. The plastic injection molded seat frame felt robust, and the high compression foam padding seemed promising. The armrests, supported by strong aluminum, felt solid and well-placed.
Compared to other helm chairs I’ve used, such as the Springfield Marine Admiral Series and the Attwood Centric Sas, the Wise Deluxe Helm Chair offered a more traditional design with the added convenience of dual cup holders. I chose it primarily for its perceived durability and the promise of UV and mildew-resistant marine-grade vinyl. The cup holders were an added bonus.
My first impression was cautiously optimistic. The chair felt substantial and well-made, but the real test would be how it performed on the open water. I was eager to see if it lived up to Wise’s claims of comfort and durability.
Real-World Testing: Putting Wise Deluxe Helm Chair w/ Arms & Dual Cup Holders to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Wise Deluxe Helm Chair during a weekend offshore fishing trip about 40 nautical miles out. The conditions were relatively calm, but there were still plenty of bumps and vibrations from the hull hitting the waves. This was a good test for the chair’s support and comfort.
The chair performed admirably in these conditions. The high compression foam padding provided excellent support, and the Marine Grade Vinyl shrugged off the saltwater spray without issue. The Dual Cup Holders were a godsend, keeping my drinks secure even in choppy waters.
Initially, the chair felt a bit stiff, but after a few hours, it conformed nicely to my body. There were no unexpected surprises, and I immediately appreciated the improved lumbar support compared to my old seat. The aluminum armrests felt sturdy and provided a comfortable place to rest my arms while navigating.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, including numerous fishing trips and coastal cruises, the Wise Deluxe Helm Chair has held up remarkably well. There are no visible signs of wear and tear on the vinyl upholstery, and the frame remains solid and creak-free. The 5 year frame warranty gives peace of mind as well.
The chair has proven to be quite durable. It has withstood prolonged exposure to saltwater, sunlight, and the occasional accidental bump from fishing gear. Cleaning is a breeze; a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth is all it takes to remove salt residue and grime.
Compared to my previous helm chair, which showed significant signs of deterioration after just one season, the Wise Deluxe Helm Chair has far exceeded my expectations. The UV and mildew-treated vinyl truly makes a difference. The Wise Deluxe Helm Chair is more comfortable and holds up better.
