First Impressions of Windels Tackle Company Pike Harasser Bucktail Spinner, 5/0 Hook

The Windels Tackle Company Pike Harasser Bucktail Spinner, 5/0 Hook promises to be a formidable weapon in any pike angler’s arsenal. The lure, designed specifically to entice aggressive strikes from these ambush predators, immediately piqued my interest with its classic design and reputation for effectiveness. I’ve spent countless hours chasing pike, and I’m always searching for that edge, that one lure that will consistently trigger strikes when others fail.

My quest for the ultimate pike lure led me to the Windels Tackle Company Pike Harasser. I needed something that could handle the abuse of constant casting and the violent strikes of northern pike. The allure of a bucktail spinner, known for its flash, vibration, and profile, was too strong to resist.

Upon receiving the Windels Tackle Company Pike Harasser, I was immediately impressed by its robust construction. The bucktail was full and vibrant, and the spinner blade gleamed, promising excellent flash in the water. The 5/0 hook looked incredibly strong, seemingly capable of handling even the largest pike.

Compared to other pike lures I’ve used, such as the Mepps Aglia or the Blue Fox Vibrax, the Pike Harasser stood out with its simplicity and ruggedness. I chose this lure hoping for a more durable and effective presentation than some of the flashier, more complex lures on the market. Real-World Testing: Putting Windels Tackle Company Pike Harasser Bucktail Spinner, 5/0 Hook to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Windels Tackle Company Pike Harasser on a local lake known for its healthy pike population. I primarily fished along weed lines and drop-offs, areas where pike are known to lie in wait for unsuspecting prey. The conditions were overcast with a slight breeze, typical pike fishing weather.

The Pike Harasser performed admirably. It cast well, and the blade spun freely, creating a noticeable vibration in the water. I initially felt a bit clumsy retrieving the lure, but quickly adapted to maintaining a steady retrieve speed to maximize the blade’s action. After about an hour of fishing, I finally felt that telltale thump followed by a strong pull – fish on!

There were no initial problems during the first outing. The lure tracked straight, the blade spun true, and the hook set perfectly.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use, the Windels Tackle Company Pike Harasser continues to hold up well. There are minimal signs of wear and tear on the bucktail, although some of the strands have become slightly frayed. The blade still spins freely, and the hook remains sharp and rust-free.

The lure has proven to be remarkably durable. It has withstood countless casts, snags, and the violent strikes of numerous pike without any significant damage. Cleaning is simple; I just rinse it with fresh water after each use and occasionally apply a light coat of oil to the blade to prevent corrosion.

Compared to some other lures I’ve used in the past, the Windels Tackle Company Pike Harasser has significantly outperformed them in terms of durability and consistent fish-catching ability. It is an absolute workhorse.
