WAL MAG 1911 .22 LR 10RD – 22 Long Rifle Caliber, 10 Rounds, Black, OEM Origin Review

The WAL MAG 1911 .22 LR 10RD – 22 Long Rifle Caliber, 10 Rounds, Black, OEM Origin Made a Bold First Impression

As a seasoned tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen a lot of magazines come and go, but there’s something particularly appealing about the 1911 platform, even when chambered in .22 LR. My latest acquisition, the WAL MAG 1911 .22 LR 10RD – 22 Long Rifle Caliber, 10 Rounds, Black, OEM Origin, promised to be a reliable and economical addition to my training regimen, offering the classic 1911 experience without breaking the bank on ammunition. The allure of consistent, affordable practice with a firearm that mirrors the ergonomics of the legendary 1911 was too strong to resist.

For years, I’ve relied on the 1911 platform for serious applications. However, practicing consistently with .45 ACP can be expensive and physically demanding. Finding a cost-effective way to maintain proficiency with the 1911 grip, trigger pull, and manual of arms became a priority, which led me to explore .22 LR conversion options and dedicated .22 LR 1911-style firearms.

Out of the box, the WAL MAG 1911 .22 LR 10RD presented a solid first impression. The black finish was consistent, and the magazine felt robust, not flimsy like some aftermarket options I’d encountered. I compared it to ProMag’s 1911 .22LR magazine and a generic .22LR 1911 magazine, noting that the WAL MAG felt sturdier and better constructed, which led to my choice. While I initially hoped for a steel magazine body for ultimate durability, the polymer construction seemed adequately reinforced. My initial feeling was cautiously optimistic, hoping it would deliver on its promise of reliability and smooth feeding.

Real-World Testing: Putting WAL MAG 1911 .22 LR 10RD – 22 Long Rifle Caliber, 10 Rounds, Black, OEM Origin to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial testing took place at my local outdoor range. I wanted to evaluate its performance under controlled conditions. I cycled through various .22 LR ammunition brands and grain weights. The magazine performed admirably with CCI Mini-Mags and Aguila Super Extra, exhibiting consistent feeding with minimal hiccups.

However, when I switched to Winchester White Box, I encountered several failures to feed, a common issue with .22 LR firearms and ammunition sensitivity. Despite this, the magazine generally proved reliable. I found it easy to load and insert into my Walther 1911 .22 LR.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of regular use, the WAL MAG 1911 .22 LR 10RD has proven to be a worthwhile addition to my range kit. Minor cosmetic wear is noticeable on the polymer body, but no functional degradation has occurred. Cleaning is straightforward. I use a simple brush and solvent to remove powder residue, ensuring smooth operation.

Compared to my experience with aftermarket magazines, which often suffer from feeding issues and premature wear, the WAL MAG has shown itself to be far more reliable. While not perfect, its performance is superior. It has allowed me to significantly reduce my ammunition costs while maintaining proficiency with the 1911 platform.
