Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig Review

Let’s Dive into Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig

The Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig is a lightweight, modular platform designed to carry essential gear within easy reach. Manufactured by Voodoo Tactical, this chest rig boasts a PALS webbing-covered exterior, allowing for extensive customization with MOLLE-compatible pouches. Its adjustable shoulder harness and chest belt ensure a comfortable and secure fit, and the intelligently designed front pouch offers versatile storage options. I was intrigued by the potential of this chest rig for streamlined gear management at an incredibly attractive price point.

As an avid outdoorsman and tactical gear enthusiast, I constantly seek solutions to improve efficiency and accessibility in the field. I needed a compact and customizable system for carrying essential tools and equipment without the bulk of a full-sized plate carrier or backpack. The advertised versatility and low price of the Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig made it a compelling candidate.

Upon unboxing, I was immediately struck by the simplicity and lightweight design. The materials felt reasonably durable, though certainly not as robust as higher-end tactical nylon. The stitching appeared clean and consistent, suggesting a decent level of construction quality. The initial feel was positive, considering the budget-friendly price.

Compared to similarly priced chest rigs from brands like Condor Outdoor or Rothco, the Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig seemed to offer a slightly more streamlined design and more intuitive storage options. I chose it primarily for its front pouch configuration, which promised easy access to critical items like maps, documents, and small tools. I was also drawn to its promise of a comfortable, adjustable fit for extended wear.

My first impression was a mixture of excitement and cautious optimism. The potential for customization and the comfortable fit were promising, but I remained curious about the actual durability and long-term performance. The Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig certainly looked the part, but the real test would be in the field.

Real-World Testing: Putting Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig on a day-long hiking and training exercise in mixed terrain. The environment included open fields, wooded areas, and a small shooting range. I loaded it with essential items, including a handgun in a universal holster attached via MOLLE, a multi-tool, a first-aid kit, a map, a compass, and several spare magazines.

The rig performed surprisingly well, even in humid conditions. I found that the adjustable straps kept it secure and close to my body. I noticed that I needed some readjustment after the first hour of movement to dial-in the perfect fit. The accessibility of my gear was significantly improved compared to carrying everything in my backpack.

Using a universal holster was not ideal for quick draw, but it proved functional and safe for my testing purposes. The ability to rapidly access my map and compass from the front pouch was a definite advantage during navigation exercises.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use, including multiple range trips and a weekend-long survival camping trip, the Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig has held up reasonably well. While there are some signs of wear and tear, particularly on the PALS webbing where pouches are attached and removed, it has not fallen apart. The Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig has proven to be a valuable addition to my gear setup.

The durability is acceptable, but not exceptional. I’ve noticed some fraying of the stitching around the edges of the main pouch and some slight fading of the material in direct sunlight. The plastic buckles have also shown minor scratches, but continue to function effectively.

Maintenance is straightforward. A quick wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt and grime. I occasionally use a mild detergent to clean more stubborn stains, and the rig dries quickly. The Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig is incredibly easy to keep ready for my next adventure.

Compared to previous chest rigs I’ve used, such as the more expensive models from Tactical Tailor and Blue Force Gear, the Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig obviously falls short in terms of overall durability and material quality. However, considering the significant price difference, it offers a respectable level of performance and functionality. I would rate the Voodoo Tactical Admin Chest Rig well in this budget friendly tier of equipment.
