First Impressions of Vexan 12-Pack Tungsten Ice Fishing Jigs Glow & Multi-Color w/Medium Jig Box
Ice fishing demands specialized gear, and having the right jigs can make or break a day on the ice. The Vexan 12-Pack Tungsten Ice Fishing Jigs Glow & Multi-Color w/Medium Jig Box promises to be a versatile solution, offering a range of colors and glow finishes in a convenient package. As an experienced angler who values efficiency and effectiveness, I was eager to see if this set lived up to the hype.
I’ve been ice fishing for over a decade, chasing everything from panfish to walleye through the frozen depths. The biggest problem I face is having a disorganized tackle box, especially for ice fishing jigs. The Vexan set offered a solution with the included medium jig box.
Upon receiving the Vexan 12-Pack Tungsten Ice Fishing Jigs Glow & Multi-Color w/Medium Jig Box, I was immediately impressed by the compact and organized presentation. The jigs themselves appeared well-made, with vibrant colors and cleanly applied glow paint. Compared to other budget jig sets I’ve used, these seemed a step above in terms of initial quality.
I also considered the Clam Pro Tackle Drop TG Jig Assortment and the Northland Tackle Tungsten Fire-Ball Jigs. However, the Vexan 12-Pack Tungsten Ice Fishing Jigs Glow & Multi-Color w/Medium Jig Box stood out because of its variety of colors, glow options, and included jig box at a very competitive price. I was excited to put them to the test on my next ice fishing adventure.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. Could these affordable tungsten jigs truly perform as well as the more expensive, individually purchased options I’ve used in the past?
Real-World Testing: Putting Vexan 12-Pack Tungsten Ice Fishing Jigs Glow & Multi-Color w/Medium Jig Box to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the Vexan 12-Pack Tungsten Ice Fishing Jigs Glow & Multi-Color w/Medium Jig Box was on a local lake known for its crappie and bluegill population. The conditions were typical for mid-winter: clear ice, a light breeze, and a water temperature just above freezing. I targeted depths ranging from 8 to 15 feet, using a sonar unit to locate fish and structure.
The jigs performed admirably right out of the box. The small size 16 hook allowed for easy baiting with wax worms and spikes, while the tungsten’s density allowed them to drop quickly to the desired depth. The glow colors proved particularly effective in the slightly stained water, attracting curious panfish from a distance.
Initially, I was concerned about the hook strength with such small sizes, especially when targeting larger crappie. However, the hooks held up surprisingly well, even when battling a few feisty 12-inchers. The included jig box was extremely helpful in keeping the jigs organized and easily accessible, preventing tangles and lost time.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Vexan 12-Pack Tungsten Ice Fishing Jigs Glow & Multi-Color w/Medium Jig Box has proven to be a reliable and valuable addition to my ice fishing arsenal. The paint has held up remarkably well, showing only minor signs of wear and tear despite repeated use and contact with sharp teeth and rocky bottoms. The jig box has also endured the rigors of being tossed in and out of my sled, keeping the jigs secure and organized.
The Vexan jigs have consistently produced fish, even on days when other anglers were struggling. I’ve found the multi-color options to be particularly effective in clear water, while the glow colors excel in low-light conditions or stained water. The tungsten construction continues to provide a distinct advantage in terms of sensitivity and sink rate.
Compared to my previous experiences with cheaper, lead-based jigs, the Vexan tungsten jigs are a clear upgrade. They provide better sensitivity, allowing me to detect subtle bites, and they sink faster, allowing me to get back into the strike zone quickly. The Vexan 12-Pack Tungsten Ice Fishing Jigs Glow & Multi-Color w/Medium Jig Box outperforms expectations for a product in this price range.
