First Impressions of Vector Optics Continental x6 5-30x56mm 30mm Tube Zero Stop Tactical Riflescope
The world of tactical optics can feel like navigating a minefield of overpriced hype and underperforming glass. So, when I first heard about the Vector Optics Continental x6 5-30x56mm 30mm Tube Zero Stop Tactical Riflescope, my expectations were cautiously optimistic. Could this scope, with its impressive magnification range and zero-stop feature, truly deliver performance without breaking the bank?
My aging eyes have been struggling to pick out prairie dogs at 400 yards, a task that demands both magnification and clarity. I’d been eyeing scopes from Vortex and Leupold, but their price tags made me wince. The Vector Optics offering, with its promise of German-engineered optics at a more accessible price point, piqued my interest.
Unboxing the Continental x6, I was immediately impressed by its substantial feel. The matte black finish looked clean and professional, and the turrets clicked with a satisfyingly positive action. Compared to my older Bushnell Engage, the Continental x6 felt like a significant step up in build quality. I picked this over a Primary Arms GLx because of the perceived glass quality and wider magnification range. This scope initially made me feel excited, a feeling I hoped would translate to performance in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting Vector Optics Continental x6 5-30x56mm 30mm Tube Zero Stop Tactical Riflescope to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the Continental x6 was at my local shooting range, zeroing it on my trusty .308 bolt action rifle. The range offered distances out to 600 yards, providing ample opportunity to test the scope’s capabilities. Even under the harsh midday sun, the image through the scope was surprisingly clear and bright.
Adjusting the parallax and diopter was smooth, allowing me to quickly achieve a sharp image. The 5-30x magnification range proved immediately useful, allowing me to spot my shots at 100 yards on 5x and then zoom in to 30x for precise adjustments. I didn’t initially have issues, but I noticed some slight edge distortion at the very highest magnification.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular range sessions and a weekend coyote hunt, the Continental x6 has proven to be a reliable performer. The scope has held zero consistently, even after some rough handling in the field. I’ve experienced no significant wear and tear, and the finish still looks pristine.
Cleaning the lenses is simple with a lens pen and microfiber cloth. The Continental x6 has impressed me. The clarity is comparable to scopes costing significantly more, and the zero-stop feature has been invaluable for quickly returning to my established zero after making elevation adjustments. It outperforms my older Burris scope in both clarity and features.
