Vector Optics Continental x6 4-24×50 30mm Tube ARI Tactical Riflescope Review

First Impressions of Vector Optics Continental x6 4-24×50 30mm Tube ARI Tactical Riflescope

In a world saturated with tactical optics, the Vector Optics Continental x6 4-24×50 30mm Tube ARI Tactical Riflescope promises premium performance without breaking the bank. Vector Optics aims to deliver German-engineered glass and features typically found in scopes costing twice as much, and I was eager to see if they succeeded. This scope boasts a versatile magnification range, a robust build, and an illuminated reticle – features that immediately piqued my interest.

My aging eyes needed an upgrade, and I was looking for a scope to enhance my precision shooting at longer ranges. The promise of exceptional light transmission and a forgiving eye box drew me to this Vector Optics offering.

The scope arrived well-packaged, and my initial impression was positive. The matte black finish looked clean and professional, and the turrets felt solid and precise. Picking it up, the weight (670g) felt reassuring without being cumbersome, suggesting a good balance between durability and practicality.

I considered other scopes in this price range, including models from Vortex and Primary Arms. However, the Continental x6’s combination of German optics and a true 6x zoom factor, as advertised, ultimately swayed my decision. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping this scope would live up to the hype and offer a genuine step up in optical clarity and performance.

Real-World Testing: Putting Vector Optics Continental x6 4-24×50 30mm Tube ARI Tactical Riflescope to the Test

First Use Experience

I first mounted the Vector Optics Continental x6 4-24×50 30mm Tube ARI Tactical Riflescope on my Tikka T3x in .308 Winchester and took it to my local range. The weather was partly cloudy, with a slight breeze, providing a decent test for the scope’s clarity and windage adjustments. I started at 100 yards to zero the scope and then moved to 300 and 500-yard targets.

The adjustments were crisp and repeatable, and I quickly achieved a solid zero. The image was bright and clear, even at higher magnifications, and the forgiving eye relief made it easy to maintain a consistent sight picture. There were no immediate issues, but I did notice the reticle illumination, while functional, wasn’t daylight bright.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of use, the Vector Optics Continental x6 4-24×50 30mm Tube ARI Tactical Riflescope has proven to be a reliable performer. I’ve taken it on multiple range trips and even used it during a weekend hunting trip in varied terrain. It has been exposed to rain, dust, and temperatures ranging from 30°F to 80°F.

The finish has held up well, showing only minor signs of wear around the turret caps. The turrets still click positively, and the scope maintains its zero consistently. Compared to some budget optics I’ve used in the past, the Continental x6 offers a noticeably clearer and brighter image, especially during low-light conditions.

The German-engineered glass provides a clear and crisp image with minimal distortion, even at maximum magnification. The light transmission is excellent, making it usable in low-light conditions, although not exceptional.

The turrets are tactile and offer precise 0.1 MIL adjustments, crucial for dialing in accurate shots at varying distances. The zero-stop feature on the elevation turret is a welcome addition, allowing for quick returns to zero after making adjustments. The windage turret also features a locking mechanism, preventing accidental adjustments.
