First Impressions of Vanguard VEO3GO 204AB/CB, 235 AB/CB, Vesta FB Series Quick Shoe
For years, I’ve been using a hodgepodge of quick release plates – some secure, some wobbly, all slightly different. It’s a small annoyance, but one that adds up when switching between camera bodies, tripods, and gimbals on location. Enter the Vanguard VEO3GO 204AB/CB, 235 AB/CB, Vesta FB Series Quick Shoe, a seemingly simple solution aiming to bring consistency and security to my camera support system.
My frustration stemmed from constantly fiddling with different mounting systems in the field. I was looking for a universal and robust quick release system that wouldn’t add unnecessary bulk or weight to my already overloaded pack.
Upon unboxing the Vanguard quick shoe, the first thing that struck me was its compact size and solid feel. The all-black finish gives it a professional look, and the weight suggests a decent level of durability. Compared to some of the generic plates I’ve used in the past, this one feels significantly more robust.
I considered cheaper, no-name options, but Vanguard’s reputation for quality tripods swayed me. I also looked at some higher-end Arca-Swiss compatible systems, but the Vanguard offering seemed to strike a better balance between price and functionality for my needs. Initially, I was cautiously optimistic; hoping this small piece of gear would finally tame the chaos in my camera bag.
