TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight Review

The TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight Made a Bold First Impression

The TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight promises to enhance target acquisition for shotgun enthusiasts. For just $11.99, it seemed like a no-brainer to try and improve my aging hunting shotgun’s sighting system. I was eager to see if this simple add-on could significantly improve my accuracy.

For years, I’ve struggled with the standard bead sight on my trusty 12-gauge. In low-light conditions, especially during early morning turkey hunts, the bead simply disappears. This led to missed opportunities and frustrating shots. I needed a solution that provided a clear, bright aiming point in varying light conditions without breaking the bank. After seeing countless positive online mentions, I decided to give the TruGlo Glo Dot a shot.

Upon opening the package, I was immediately impressed with the TruGlo Glo Dot’s compact design and bright red fiber optic. The sight felt surprisingly sturdy for its small size and price point. Its universal design suggested easy installation, which was a major selling point for someone who prefers not to tinker extensively with their firearms. Compared to other fiber optic sights I’ve seen, the TruGlo Glo Dot seemed less bulky, which appealed to my preference for a streamlined setup. I was hopeful that the TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight would be a practical and affordable solution.

My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. The TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight looked promising, but the real test would be how it performed in the field. I couldn’t wait to get it mounted and head to the range to see if it lived up to the hype.

Real-World Testing: Putting TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight to the Test

First Use Experience

My first experience with the TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight was at my local shooting range. The weather was partly cloudy, providing a good test for the sight’s performance in varied lighting conditions. Installation was relatively straightforward, requiring only a bit of cleaning and a snug fit onto the shotgun’s rib. I started with some basic patterning exercises at 25 yards.

I immediately noticed a significant improvement in visibility compared to the original bead sight. The bright red dot stood out clearly against the target, even as the clouds shifted. The TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight allowed for much faster target acquisition, especially when swinging on moving targets. My initial concerns about the sight being too distracting quickly faded as I became accustomed to its presence.

There weren’t any immediate issues during my first range session. The TruGlo Glo Dot stayed securely in place, and the fiber optic maintained its brightness throughout. It definitely increased my confidence on where my shot would land in relation to the target.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use, the TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight continues to perform admirably. I’ve used it during multiple upland bird hunts in both dry and slightly damp conditions. The sight has proven to be quite durable, showing no signs of loosening or damage despite the jostling it endured in the field. Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove any dirt or debris.

Compared to my previous frustrations with the bead sight, the TruGlo Glo Dot has been a game-changer. I’m now able to acquire targets much faster and with greater accuracy, leading to cleaner and more ethical shots. The TruGlo Glo Dot Universal Pro Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight has not disappointed and has exceeded my initial expectations.
