Let’s Talk About TruGlo Buckline TG85394XB Rifle Scope, 3-9x40mm BDC Reticle
The TruGlo Buckline TG85394XB Rifle Scope, 3-9x40mm BDC Reticle is a mid-range optic designed for the hunter who needs a reliable and accurate scope without breaking the bank. TruGlo has built a reputation for providing quality products at accessible price points, and this scope aims to continue that trend. Let’s dive into what makes this scope tick, and whether it lives up to the hype.
I was on the hunt for a new optic for my trusty .30-06 hunting rifle. My old scope, while functional, lacked the bullet drop compensation I wanted for those longer shots across open fields. The appeal of an affordable, yet feature-rich scope like the TruGlo Buckline TG85394XB Rifle Scope, 3-9x40mm BDC Reticle was too strong to ignore.
The scope arrived well-packaged. My initial impression was that it was surprisingly solid for its price range. The matte black finish looked clean and felt durable, and the turrets clicked positively.
I was also considering the Bushnell Banner 3-9×40 and the Simmons Whitetail Classic. The TruGlo Buckline TG85394XB Rifle Scope, 3-9x40mm BDC Reticle stood out to me due to its bullet drop compensation (BDC) reticle and the positive user feedback regarding its clear optics. This seemed to offer a good balance of features and affordability, surpassing both the Bushnell and Simmons in its specific combination of attributes.
I was cautiously optimistic. Could a scope at this price point really deliver on clarity, durability, and accuracy? Only time and testing would tell.
Real-World Testing: Putting TruGlo Buckline TG85394XB Rifle Scope, 3-9x40mm BDC Reticle to the Test
First Use Experience
I took the TruGlo Buckline TG85394XB Rifle Scope, 3-9x40mm BDC Reticle to my local shooting range for its initial zeroing. The weather was mild with a slight breeze. After mounting it on my rifle, I started with the usual 25-yard zero, followed by a move to 100 yards.
The adjustments were easy enough with the coin-style turrets. Each click felt distinct. It took a few shots to dial it in, but I was soon grouping within 1 inch at 100 yards.
The clarity remained decent even when the sun began to dip behind the mountains. There were no significant issues or surprises during the initial sighting.
Extended Use & Reliability
After the initial range session, I used the TruGlo Buckline TG85394XB Rifle Scope, 3-9x40mm BDC Reticle on several hog hunts and scouting trips over the course of a few months. It endured rain, mud, and some rough handling in the truck. Despite the abuse, the scope held zero remarkably well.
I noticed a few minor scratches on the matte finish, but nothing that impacted performance. Cleaning was simple; a quick wipe with a lens cloth kept the glass crystal clear. The scope has performed admirably, especially considering its budget-friendly price.
In comparison to my old Leupold scope (which cost significantly more), the TruGlo Buckline TG85394XB Rifle Scope, 3-9x40mm BDC Reticle doesn’t quite match its optical clarity or ruggedness. However, for the price, it definitely exceeded my expectations, providing a reliable and accurate aiming solution for my hunting needs.
