First Impressions of Trophy Treestands Samson Tree Stand
The Trophy Treestands Samson Tree Stand promises a blend of comfort, safety, and practicality for the avid hunter. Marketed as a two-person ladder stand, it aims to provide a stable and secure platform for those long hours spent waiting for the perfect shot. The Maxgrip Cable Safety System, flip-up shooting rail, and Textilene seat material caught my attention, hinting at a well-thought-out design focused on both user safety and comfort.
My motivation for seeking out a new tree stand stemmed from a need for a more stable and comfortable hunting experience. My old, single-person stand was beginning to show its age, creaking ominously with every slight movement and offering little in the way of back support. I was hoping the Samson Tree Stand would provide a more secure and enjoyable hunting perch, especially during longer sits.
Upon unboxing the Trophy Treestands Samson Tree Stand, I was immediately impressed by the robust construction and the seemingly high-quality materials. The steel ladder sections felt solid and well-coated, promising durability against the elements. The Textilene seat material felt comfortable to the touch, suggesting a welcome improvement over the thinly padded seat of my old stand.
I considered other options before settling on the Samson Tree Stand. The Millennium L-220 Double Ladder Stand was a contender, but the Samson Tree Stand‘s Maxgrip Cable Safety System seemed a cut above in terms of security. The Rivers Edge Lockdown 2-Man Ladder Stand was another option, but its seat material felt less comfortable compared to the Samson Tree Stand’s Textilene.
Initially, I was excited and optimistic about the potential of the Trophy Treestands Samson Tree Stand. Its sturdy build and focus on safety features gave me confidence that it would be a significant upgrade to my existing hunting setup. I was eager to put it to the test in the field and see if it lived up to its promises.
Real-World Testing: Putting Trophy Treestands Samson Tree Stand to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial test of the Trophy Treestands Samson Tree Stand took place on a private hunting lease in central Texas during the early deer season. I chose a location along a well-worn game trail near a dense thicket, hoping to intercept deer moving between bedding and feeding areas. The weather was relatively mild, with temperatures in the mid-60s and a slight breeze.
The stand performed admirably in these conditions, providing a stable and comfortable platform for my hunt. The ladder sections felt secure and easy to climb, and the Maxgrip Cable Safety System gave me peace of mind as I ascended to the 16-foot height. The Flip Up Shooting Rail offered a solid rest for my rifle, allowing for steady and accurate shots.
One initial surprise was the weight of the entire system. While manageable, it definitely required two people to safely and efficiently set up. Once in place, though, the stability was exceptional, a welcome change from the shakiness of my old stand.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, the Trophy Treestands Samson Tree Stand continues to perform well. There are no significant signs of wear and tear, and the steel construction seems resistant to rust and corrosion. The Textilene seat material has held up nicely, showing no signs of sagging or damage despite repeated use.
Maintenance has been minimal, primarily involving wiping down the stand after each use to remove dirt and debris. I’ve also applied a light coat of oil to the ladder joints to prevent any potential squeaking or binding. This simple routine has kept the stand in excellent working condition.
Compared to my previous hunting experiences with less stable and comfortable stands, the Trophy Treestands Samson Tree Stand has been a game-changer. The increased stability has improved my shot accuracy, and the comfortable seat has allowed me to stay in the stand for longer periods without discomfort. It has definitely exceeded my expectations.
