First Impressions of Trophy Ridge Convoy Quiver
The Trophy Ridge Convoy Quiver arrives promising lightweight versatility, a welcome change from the often bulky and cumbersome quivers I’ve encountered in my decade-plus in the outdoor gear world. From the moment I saw the specs highlighting its Ballistix copolymer construction – touted as 25% lighter than aluminum – I was intrigued to see if it could live up to the hype. Could this quiver truly offer a noticeable difference in maneuverability and reduced fatigue during long hunts?
I was seeking a quiver that minimized weight and bulk, something that wouldn’t snag on branches or feel like an anchor on my bow during extended stalks. My go-to quiver for years has been a solid, but undeniably heavy, aluminum model. While reliable, it contributed significantly to bow weight, especially when fully loaded with arrows. I was excited about the Convoy Quiver‘s potential to alleviate this burden.
Upon unboxing, the Trophy Ridge Convoy Quiver felt remarkably light. The black finish and streamlined design gave it a modern, tactical look. Initial inspection revealed solid construction and a snug fit for arrows. My first impression was positive.
Comparing it to my old aluminum quiver and a friend’s heavier rubberized model, the Convoy Quiver immediately stood out for its weight advantage. I chose it because of that weight and its promise of a quieter draw, thanks to the “Soft Touch Hood.” My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. I was eager to field-test its durability and noise reduction capabilities.
Real-World Testing: Putting Trophy Ridge Convoy Quiver to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the Trophy Ridge Convoy Quiver was a weekend bowhunting trip in the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest. The terrain was challenging, with thick underbrush and steep inclines. I immediately noticed the difference in weight compared to my old quiver.
Navigating through the woods felt significantly less cumbersome. The Convoy Quiver remained secure and didn’t snag on branches as I moved through the brush. The “Soft Touch Hood” truly seemed to dampen the sound of arrows moving within the quiver as I hiked.
Initially, I found the arrow retention system a bit stiff, requiring a slightly firmer push to seat the arrows fully. However, this provided a secure hold. There were no arrows accidentally dislodged during my maneuvers.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use during practice sessions and hunting excursions, the Trophy Ridge Convoy Quiver has held up surprisingly well. The Ballistix copolymer has proven to be remarkably durable, resisting scratches and impacts from brush and rocks. There are no signs of cracking or structural weakness.
Maintenance has been minimal. A quick wipe-down with a damp cloth after each use is all it takes to keep it clean. The arrow grippers show no signs of wear or loosening.
Compared to my previous experiences with heavier, less streamlined quivers, the Convoy Quiver has been a noticeable improvement in comfort and maneuverability. The reduced weight has allowed me to maintain a more stable and consistent shooting platform, especially during longer hunts. It has definitely exceeded my expectations in terms of lightweight performance and durability.
