What Makes Trijicon Suppressor/Optic Height Sight Set, Orange – 1 out of 15 models Stand Out?
The Trijicon Suppressor/Optic Height Sight Set, Orange – 1 out of 15 models offers a robust and versatile sighting solution for modern pistol platforms. Trijicon is well-known for producing high-quality, durable sights, and this set is no exception. It caters to shooters who run suppressors or slide-mounted red dot optics and need reliable backup iron sights. The increased height and bright orange front sight are designed to offer a quick and clear sight picture in various lighting conditions.
I’ve been consistently seeking a reliable backup sight system for my Glock 19, particularly after adding a red dot. My primary concern was maintaining a clear sight picture over a suppressor. Many standard-height sights are completely unusable in such a setup. The need for heightened sights, capable of co-witnessing with an optic and clearing a suppressor, led me directly to exploring this product.
Upon unboxing, the Trijicon sights felt incredibly solid. The metal construction exudes quality, and the orange front sight is remarkably vibrant. The sights have a substantial weight, which provides confidence in their durability. The finish is clean and professional, indicating meticulous attention to detail.
I considered other suppressor-height sights from AmeriGlo and Night Fision, but Trijicon’s reputation for tritium illumination and overall build quality made them my ultimate choice. Trijicon’s name is synonymous with reliability in the tactical community, and that was a major deciding factor. The bright orange front sight, designed for fast target acquisition, was also a compelling feature that swayed my decision.
My initial excitement was palpable. The sights looked and felt like a premium product. I was eager to install them on my Glock and test their performance at the range.
Real-World Testing: Putting Trijicon Suppressor/Optic Height Sight Set, Orange – 1 out of 15 models to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Trijicon Suppressor/Optic Height Sight Set, Orange – 1 out of 15 models at an outdoor shooting range in varying light conditions, from bright daylight to dusk. I tested them on my Glock 19 with a suppressor attached. The bright orange front sight immediately grabbed my attention and made target acquisition significantly faster than with standard blacked-out sights.
In wet conditions, the serrations on the rear sight provided a secure grip during manipulations. Even with gloves on, the sights remained easy to use. No fogging or distortion occurred during colder temperatures, ensuring a consistent sight picture.
Installation was relatively straightforward, although I did need a sight pusher tool for proper alignment. It took about 15 minutes to install both sights. After installation, I quickly dialed in the windage, and the sights were ready for action.
Initially, I was surprised by how much higher these sights are compared to standard Glock sights. It took a few magazines to adjust my sight picture. The height is crucial for suppressor use, but it requires acclimation if you’re used to standard sights.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use (approximately 5000 rounds fired), the Trijicon Suppressor/Optic Height Sight Set, Orange – 1 out of 15 models has proven exceptionally reliable. There are no signs of fading in the tritium illumination. The orange paint on the front sight remains vibrant.
The sights exhibit minimal wear and tear. The metal construction is very durable and resists scratching. Even after rigorous range sessions and tactical drills, the sights still look and perform like new.
Cleaning is simple: a quick wipe-down with a solvent-safe cloth keeps them in optimal condition. The sapphire jewel on the tritium lamps seems to effectively protect them from cleaning solvents and potential damage. No special maintenance is required beyond standard firearm cleaning procedures.
These sights significantly outperform standard Glock sights, especially when using a suppressor. The heightened design provides an unobstructed sight picture. They also act as an excellent backup to my red dot optic, offering a quick and intuitive aiming solution should the optic fail.
