First Impressions of Torklift International A8005 Glowstep 27.5in 5 Step
The Torklift International A8005 Glowstep 27.5in 5 Step is designed as a premium RV step system, promising stability, adjustability, and enhanced safety, particularly in low-light conditions. Torklift aims to deliver a product that addresses the common issues of RV steps: wobbling, uneven terrain adaptation, and poor visibility at night.
My RV adventures have often been marred by rickety, unstable steps that made entering and exiting the rig a less-than-pleasant experience, especially for my family. I needed a reliable step system that could handle varying ground conditions and provide a secure platform, night or day, as I frequently arrive at campsites after dark.
The Torklift Glowstep arrived well-packaged, and my initial impression was one of robust construction. The materials felt substantial, and the overall design appeared well-thought-out, clearly built for the outdoors and demanding use.
Compared to standard OEM RV steps, which are typically flimsy and offer limited adjustability, the Glowstep’s curved support arm and adjustable feet seemed like a game-changer. Other options I considered included aftermarket scissor steps and folding steps, but the Glowstep’s combination of stability, adjustability, and glow-in-the-dark feature swayed me. I was cautiously optimistic that the Torklift Glowstep would resolve my RV access woes, offering a safer and more convenient entry and exit point.
Real-World Testing: Putting Torklift International A8005 Glowstep 27.5in 5 Step to the Test
First Use Experience
My first trial of the Torklift Glowstep was at a dispersed camping site in the mountains, notorious for its uneven terrain. Setting up the steps was straightforward, thanks to the Flex-N-Glide connection. The adjustable feet were particularly useful for leveling the steps on the sloped ground.
Even on the uneven surface, the Glowstep felt incredibly stable, and the steps themselves were wide and easy to navigate. I was impressed by the lack of wobble, a stark contrast to my previous RV steps.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Torklift Glowstep has proven to be a reliable and worthwhile investment. The steps have withstood various weather conditions, from scorching desert heat to torrential rain, without showing any signs of corrosion or structural weakness. Maintaining the Glowstep is simple, a quick wash with soap and water is all that’s needed to keep it clean and functioning smoothly.
Compared to my previous experiences with flimsy RV steps that felt unstable and required constant adjustments, the Torklift Glowstep is a significant upgrade. It has exceeded my expectations, providing a solid and secure platform for entering and exiting my RV.
