Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser Review

First Impressions of Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser

The Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser is a turkey call designed to lure in those stubborn gobblers with its realistic sounds. Tom Teasers, known for their quality game calls, aims to provide hunters with a versatile and effective tool to improve their success in the field. I was particularly interested in this call because I was looking for a new cutting call to add some aggression to my turkey hunting strategy.

For years, I’ve relied on various pot calls and diaphragm calls, but I needed something that could really cut through the spring woods. The promise of a 3-reed bat cut diaphragm with a .004 yellow reed over two .003 reeds intrigued me. My initial thought was, “Can this tiny diaphragm pack enough punch to truly tease those Toms?”

Upon receiving the Teaser Pleaser, I was struck by its simplicity. It’s a standard diaphragm call, lightweight and seemingly well-constructed. It felt comfortable between my palate and tongue. Compared to some of the other diaphragm calls I’ve used, like those with thicker frames, the Teaser Pleaser felt less bulky. I hoped this would translate to more controlled and nuanced sounds.

I considered other bat-cut calls from Primos and Quaker Boy. However, the Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser stood out due to its specific reed configuration and the reputation of Tom Teasers for quality. I was excited to see if this call lived up to the hype, given its specific design and price point. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping it would provide the aggressive cutting sounds I needed to close the distance on wary toms.

Real-World Testing: Putting Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser to the Test

First Use Experience

My first opportunity to test the Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser came during the opening week of turkey season in the Appalachian foothills. I set up on a ridge overlooking a known strutting zone. The morning was cool and damp, typical for spring in this region.

I began with some soft yelps and clucks from my slate call, but after an hour, there was no response. I then transitioned to the Teaser Pleaser, unleashing a series of sharp, aggressive cuts. A gobble erupted in the distance almost immediately. The call was surprisingly easy to control, even with wet conditions slightly affecting the grip. I experienced a slight learning curve finding the sweet spot.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use, the Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser has proven to be a reliable addition to my turkey hunting arsenal. The call maintains its sound quality well, even after exposure to moisture and repeated use. I have noticed slight wear on the reeds, but it hasn’t significantly impacted the sound or performance. Cleaning it after each hunt, and storing it in a dry, protective case has helped extend its life.

Compared to some of the cheaper diaphragm calls I’ve used in the past, the Teaser Pleaser definitely outperforms them in terms of sound quality and durability. It doesn’t lose its crispness after a few uses. I believe the investment in a higher-quality diaphragm call like this is worthwhile. It provides consistent performance throughout the season.

Breaking Down the Features of Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser

Specifications

The Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser is a 3-reed bat cut diaphragm turkey call. It features a .004-inch yellow reed over two .003-inch reeds. The product specifications, as provided by Tom Teasers, list the following: Manufacturer: Tom Teasers, Additional Features: No, Weight: 0.04 oz, Width: 4 in, Length: 5 in, Height: 0.5 in.

The specific reed configuration is crucial for producing a realistic and versatile range of turkey sounds. The bat cut allows for sharper, more aggressive cutting, while the combination of reed thicknesses provides both high-pitched yelps and deeper, raspier tones. A lighter weight aids comfort in use.

Performance & Functionality

The Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser excels at producing aggressive cutting sounds. These are key for enticing call-shy toms or competing with other hens. It also delivers realistic yelps, clucks, and purrs. With practice, hunters can master a wide range of turkey vocalizations.

The call’s strength lies in its ability to cut through wind and distance. Its weaknesses are that it requires some practice to master the proper technique for optimal sound quality. This may not be the ideal call for beginners, who may struggle to produce consistent, realistic sounds initially. Overall, I believe it exceeds expectations for an aggressive cutting call.

Design & Ergonomics

The Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser features a standard diaphragm design. It’s lightweight and comfortable to wear, even for extended periods. The materials appear to be of good quality, ensuring durability and longevity. The call sits comfortably in the mouth.

The user-friendliness is good, but it requires practice and familiarity with diaphragm calls to achieve optimal results. A beginner might find it challenging to produce realistic sounds initially. A more experienced hunter, however, will appreciate the control and versatility it offers.

Durability & Maintenance

The Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser is built to last, provided it is properly cared for. Regular cleaning after use and proper storage are essential to prevent reed damage and maintain sound quality. With proper maintenance, this call should easily last for multiple turkey seasons. Replace it if the sound deteriorates.

The call is relatively easy to clean; simply rinse it with water and allow it to air dry. It’s crucial to store it in a dry, protected case to prevent damage to the reeds. No repair options are available; replacement is necessary if the reeds become damaged beyond repair.

Accessories and Customization Options

The Tom Teasers Teaser Pleaser does not come with any additional accessories. It’s a standalone diaphragm call designed to be used as is. There are no official customization options available directly from Tom Teasers.

Hunters can experiment with different tape configurations to alter the sound slightly. However, this is not a recommended practice for beginners, as it can easily damage the reeds. It’s generally compatible with standard diaphragm call cases and storage solutions from other brands.
