Tigress Deluxe Rigging Kit Review

Let’s Talk About Tigress Deluxe Rigging Kit

The Tigress Deluxe Rigging Kit from Tigress promises a comprehensive solution for single-rigged outrigger setups on boats up to 20 feet. As someone who spends countless hours offshore chasing pelagic species, I’m always looking for ways to optimize my trolling spread and present baits more effectively. This kit claims to offer everything needed for a robust and reliable outrigger system.

My current outrigger setup is pieced together from various sources, and frankly, it’s a bit of a mess. I was specifically searching for a complete, organized rigging solution that would eliminate tangles, provide smooth bait deployment, and withstand the harsh marine environment. The promise of a “deluxe” kit sparked my interest, hoping it would be a significant upgrade over my current hodgepodge.

Upon unboxing, I immediately noted the heavy-duty black nylon construction. The components felt substantial and well-made, a positive sign considering the relentless sun and saltwater they’ll face. Compared to some cheaper kits I’ve seen with flimsy plastic parts, the Tigress Deluxe Rigging Kit appeared to be a step up.

I considered building my own kit from individual components, and also looked at similar offerings from AFTCO and Rupp. However, the Tigress Deluxe Rigging Kit seemed to strike a good balance between price and perceived quality, and the all-in-one nature was appealing. Initial excitement was tempered with cautious optimism, hoping the kit would live up to its “deluxe” moniker in real-world conditions.

Real-World Testing: Putting Tigress Deluxe Rigging Kit to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Tigress Deluxe Rigging Kit during a three-day tuna fishing trip 60 miles offshore. Conditions were moderate, with a slight chop and a consistent 15-knot breeze. The kit was installed on my 18-foot center console, utilizing existing outrigger bases.

The initial setup was relatively straightforward, requiring only basic knot-tying skills. However, I did find myself wishing for more detailed instructions beyond the simple diagram included. Despite the minimal instructions, the kit performed admirably right out of the gate, deploying and retrieving baits smoothly.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use, the Tigress Deluxe Rigging Kit has proven to be remarkably durable. The black nylon has shown no signs of fading or degradation, despite constant exposure to sun and saltwater. Occasional rinsing with freshwater after each trip has kept everything functioning smoothly.

I’ve noticed some minor fraying of the nylon lines near the clips, but nothing that compromises the overall integrity of the system. Compared to my previous, makeshift rigging, the Tigress kit has significantly reduced tangles and improved bait presentation. It definitely outperforms my old setup in terms of ease of use and reliability.
