Let’s Dive into Thetford Tecma Silence 2 Mode 12V RV Toilet With Electric Solenoid – High
The Thetford Tecma Silence 2 Mode 12V RV Toilet With Electric Solenoid – High promises a revolution in RV sanitation, boasting a powerful yet quiet turbine pump, elegant European styling, and efficient water consumption. This toilet aims to solve the common RV problem of noisy, inefficient flushing systems, offering a luxurious and eco-friendly alternative. Thetford claims this self-contained unit eliminates the need for external pumps or macerators, making it a convenient and space-saving solution.
My journey to finding the Thetford Tecma Silence 2 Mode 12V RV Toilet started with a common RV problem: a constantly running, excessively loud toilet pump that disturbed the peace of our camping trips. I was seeking a reliable, quiet, and water-efficient toilet that could handle the demands of extended off-grid adventures. The promise of a “virtually noiseless turbine pump” immediately caught my attention, as did the self-contained design that simplified installation.
Upon unboxing, the Thetford Tecma Silence 2 Mode 12V RV Toilet made a strong impression. The solid porcelain base exuded quality, and the molded plastic seat and cover felt durable. The unit has a reassuring heft, signaling a robust build. The sleek, European styling was a definite upgrade from our previous utilitarian RV toilet.
I considered the Dometic 310 and the Thetford Aqua-Magic V before settling on the Tecma Silence 2 Mode. The Dometic 310 is a popular choice, but I found reviews highlighting its noisy flush. The Aqua-Magic V is more budget-friendly, but its basic design and less efficient water usage didn’t align with my needs. The Tecma Silence 2 Mode seemed to offer the best combination of quiet operation, water efficiency, and aesthetic appeal.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The unit looked and felt premium, but the $1349 price tag meant it needed to perform exceptionally well to justify the investment. The promise of a quiet, efficient, and reliable RV toilet was exciting, but I knew the real test would come with real-world use.
Real-World Testing: Putting Thetford Tecma Silence 2 Mode 12V RV Toilet With Electric Solenoid – High to the Test
First Use Experience
I installed the Thetford Tecma Silence 2 Mode 12V RV Toilet in our renovated off-grid campervan, designed for extended backcountry adventures. The initial testing took place during a week-long trip to the high desert of Utah, where water conservation is paramount.
The silence during the flush cycle was immediately noticeable and a welcome change. Compared to the roaring pump of our old toilet, the Tecma Silence 2 Mode produced a gentle whir, barely audible even in the confined space of the van. The two-mode flush system proved intuitive, allowing for water conservation with the half-flush option.
After a few uses, I noticed the efficiency of the high-pressure flush. It effectively cleared the bowl with minimal water, living up to the claim of minimizing water consumption. There were no unexpected issues or surprises during the initial uses; the toilet performed exactly as advertised.
Extended Use & Reliability
After six months of consistent use, including several multi-week trips and numerous weekend getaways, the Thetford Tecma Silence 2 Mode 12V RV Toilet continues to impress. The porcelain base shows no signs of staining or wear, and the plastic seat and cover remain intact and scratch-free.
The toilet is surprisingly easy to clean; a quick wipe with a standard RV toilet cleaner is all it takes to maintain a fresh and sanitary environment. I have not experienced any clogs or malfunctions, suggesting a robust and well-designed flushing mechanism.
In comparison to my previous RV toilet experiences, the Tecma Silence 2 Mode is in a different league. The improved silence, enhanced water efficiency, and reliable performance make it a worthwhile upgrade. It has significantly improved the overall comfort and sustainability of our RV travels.
