Thermolec Tmb Model Electric Boiler With Modulation And Outdoor Reset 6 Kw / 20 472 Btu/Hour Review

Let’s Talk About Thermolec Tmb Model Electric Boiler With Modulation And Outdoor Reset 6 Kw / 20 472 Btu/Hour

The Thermolec Tmb Model Electric Boiler With Modulation And Outdoor Reset 6 Kw / 20 472 Btu/Hour represents a modern solution for small-capacity heating needs. This electric boiler, manufactured by Thermolec, aims to provide an economical and space-saving alternative to traditional heating systems. Its key features include a stainless steel heat generator tank, outdoor reset control, and fully modulating capabilities, making it an attractive option for in-floor radiant, hot water baseboard, or hot water radiator heating systems. These features piqued my interest, as I was seeking a compact and efficient heating solution for my off-grid cabin, which I’ll detail more below.

My cabin, though small, suffers from inefficient propane heating that requires constant tank refills and poses safety concerns. I needed a reliable, low-maintenance heating system and the Thermolec boiler seemed like a promising option. I was looking for something that could integrate with my existing radiant floor system and provide consistent, programmable heat, and the Thermolec Tmb Model Electric Boiler promised just that.

Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the unit’s compact design. The stainless steel heat generator tank feels robust and well-constructed, suggesting long-term durability. Compared to a similarly sized propane boiler, the Thermolec boiler is significantly lighter and requires no venting, a major advantage in my situation. I had also considered a mini-split heat pump, but it lacked the radiant floor compatibility and aesthetic appeal I desired.

My initial excitement stemmed from the boiler’s potential to provide a safer and more sustainable heating solution for my cabin. The lack of gas lines and venting requirements, coupled with the promise of precise temperature control, was particularly appealing. I was eager to put it through its paces and see if it lived up to the hype.

Real-World Testing: Putting Thermolec Tmb Model Electric Boiler With Modulation And Outdoor Reset 6 Kw / 20 472 Btu/Hour to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial testing took place in my off-grid cabin during a particularly cold snap. I connected the Thermolec Tmb Model Electric Boiler to my existing radiant floor heating system and a small solar panel array with battery backup to power it. The first few hours were spent fine-tuning the aquastat control and outdoor reset settings to achieve a comfortable and consistent temperature. The modulating feature proved incredibly useful, allowing the boiler to adjust its output based on the cabin’s heat demand.

The cabin remained consistently warm despite outside temperatures dropping to below freezing. Even with the solar panel setup, I was impressed that the boiler did not overload the system. One initial surprise was how quiet the boiler is during operation. The noise level is significantly lower than my old propane furnace, making the cabin more peaceful and comfortable.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of continuous use, the Thermolec Tmb Model Electric Boiler has proven to be a reliable and efficient heating solution. The stainless steel tank shows no signs of corrosion or wear, and the controls have remained accurate and responsive. Maintenance has been minimal, consisting primarily of checking the pressure relief valve and ensuring proper water levels.

Compared to my previous propane heating system, the Thermolec boiler offers superior temperature control and eliminates the need for constant propane refills. I can precisely adjust the cabin’s temperature based on my schedule and occupancy, reducing energy consumption and saving money. However, during extremely cold periods, the boiler does draw a significant amount of power, which can strain my solar panel system.
