First Impressions of The Headrest Safe Co. The Slide Companion Matching Headrest
The Headrest Safe Co. The Slide Companion Matching Headrest is designed to provide a seamless aesthetic match to the original Slide safe headrest, ensuring no visual clues indicate the presence of a hidden safe within your vehicle. It’s a simple, yet effective, solution for maintaining a low profile while still having a secure storage option nearby. The promise of a perfectly matched headrest, devoid of any giveaways, immediately piqued my interest.
For years, I’ve wrestled with the challenge of securely storing valuables in my vehicle without drawing attention. Traditional lockboxes are bulky and easily spotted. The Headrest Safe Co. offered a clever solution with their Slide safe headrest, and this companion headrest is the logical extension of that system, promising visual uniformity.
Upon unboxing, the Matching Headrest felt well-made, with the vinyl and cloth materials closely resembling what I’d expect from a standard automotive headrest. The stitching was clean and the overall construction felt solid. My initial impression was positive; it looked like a factory-installed piece, blending in perfectly.
Comparing it to universal headrests I’ve used in the past, this one felt more substantial and better integrated. Universal options often look like afterthoughts, betraying their non-OEM status. This Matching Headrest aims to eliminate that telltale sign. I chose this over a second, standalone safe headrest to keep any suspicion away from my vehicle. My initial reaction was relief – this seemed to be a genuinely discreet solution.
