The TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320 Made a Bold First Impression
The TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320 isn’t just another gun cleaning mat; it’s a tailored workspace designed for the popular SIG Sauer pistol. TekMat, a company synonymous with quality and firearm familiarity, offers a product promising protection and organization. For a mere $5.99, it seemed too good to pass up, a worthy investment to preserve both my workspace and my firearm.
As someone who regularly maintains a diverse collection of firearms, I needed a dedicated, clean surface for working on my SIG P320. Generic mats simply didn’t offer the specific fit and organization I was seeking. This mat was designed with my firearm in mind.
Unboxing the TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320, I was immediately struck by its compact size and thoughtful packaging. It arrived rolled neatly in a protective tube, along with a small microfiber TekTowel. The black color provides a professional appearance.
I’ve used generic rubber mats and even cut-up cardboard boxes in the past, but those offer minimal protection and zero organization. Compared to those, the TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320 is a significant upgrade. Its tailored design for the P320 promises a dedicated, safe space for cleaning and maintenance.
My first impression was one of pleasant surprise. For such a low price, the apparent quality and tailored design exceeded my expectations. I was eager to put it to the test.
Real-World Testing: Putting TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320 to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320 in my home workshop, a space that often doubles as a reloading bench and general tinkering area. I used it during a complete teardown and cleaning of my SIG P320 after a particularly dusty range session. The mat was placed on a wooden workbench surface.
The workshop wasn’t particularly wet or cold, but fine metal shavings and solvent spills are a constant threat. The mat provided a welcome barrier against these potential contaminants. The mat’s surface helped prevent small parts from rolling away, which has always been a problem when cleaning firearms.
The TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320 was incredibly easy to use from the start. Simply unroll it and begin. No learning curve here.
Initially, I was concerned the small size wouldn’t be adequate for a full teardown, but it proved sufficient. However, for more complex operations, more space would be beneficial. The included TekTowel was a nice touch for wiping down parts.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320 has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of significant wear and tear despite frequent exposure to solvents and lubricants. The printing hasn’t faded, and the material hasn’t cracked or peeled.
The mat remains in excellent condition with minimal effort. I simply wipe it down with a clean cloth after each use. Stubborn stains come off easily with a bit of solvent.
Compared to my previous reliance on makeshift cleaning surfaces, the TEKMAT PISTOL MAT SIG P320 is a clear winner. It provides dedicated protection, organization, and easy cleanup at a minimal cost. It’s a worthwhile upgrade that enhances the firearm maintenance experience.
