Super Sling Original Padded Super-Sling w/ Talon Swivels, Max-4 Review

Let’s Dive into Super Sling Original Padded Super-Sling w/ Talon Swivels, Max-4

The Super Sling Original Padded Super-Sling w/ Talon Swivels, Max-4 from Super Sling promises to be a reliable and comfortable way to carry your firearm, especially in challenging outdoor environments. It features a padded shoulder strap, quick adjustability, and durable construction designed for all-weather use.

I needed a sling that could withstand the rigors of deer season in the Pacific Northwest, notorious for its rain and rugged terrain. I was tired of slings that dug into my shoulder and slipped off my coat, especially when navigating dense forests with my trusty Benelli SBE.

Upon unboxing, the Super Sling felt solid and well-made. The padding was noticeably thicker and more comfortable than my old nylon sling, and the Max-4 camo pattern was a great match for my hunting gear.

I considered the Magpul MS4 Dual QD Sling Gen2 and the Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Applications Sling, but opted for the Super Sling due to its integrated padding and positive user feedback regarding its comfort. I was hoping for a comfortable, slip-resistant, and easily adjustable sling that wouldn’t break the bank.

My first impression was positive; the Super Sling appeared to be a well-thought-out piece of gear, and I was excited to put it through its paces in the field. The padding felt substantial, and the quick-adjust mechanism seemed intuitive.

Real-World Testing: Putting Super Sling Original Padded Super-Sling w/ Talon Swivels, Max-4 to the Test

First Use Experience

My first field test was during a scouting trip in the Cascade Mountains, traversing steep hills and crossing muddy streams. The Super Sling immediately proved its worth by distributing the weight of my shotgun evenly across my shoulder, reducing fatigue significantly.

The Max-4 camouflage blended seamlessly with the surrounding foliage, and the synthetic material shed water effectively during a light drizzle. The one-hand adjustment allowed me to quickly tighten or loosen the sling depending on the terrain, keeping the shotgun secure while still allowing for rapid shouldering. No immediate issues surfaced, and I was quite impressed with the sling’s initial performance in a demanding environment.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use, including multiple hunting trips and range sessions, the Super Sling has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of fraying or wear on the webbing, and the padding has retained its shape and comfort.

Cleaning the Super Sling is a breeze; a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth removes mud and dirt effectively. Compared to my previous experience with unpadded slings, the Super Sling offers superior comfort and stability, significantly reducing shoulder strain during long days in the field. It has become an indispensable part of my hunting setup, exceeding my initial expectations.
