Let’s Dive into Sufix 832 Advanced 20lb Superline
The Sufix 832 Advanced 20lb Superline is Sufix’s offering in the competitive braided fishing line market, promising superior strength, durability, and casting performance. This line utilizes advanced braiding technology, combining eight fibers – seven HMPE fibers and one GORE Performance Fiber – to achieve its touted capabilities. As a seasoned angler with over a decade of experience, I was eager to see if this line lived up to the hype, especially considering the marketing claims of ultimate abrasion resistance and unbeatable strength.
I was searching for a braided line that could handle the rigors of fishing in heavy cover and around abrasive structures. I needed a line that wouldn’t fray easily, maintained its strength after repeated use, and provided excellent sensitivity for detecting subtle strikes. The Sufix 832 Advanced seemed to fit the bill, with its emphasis on abrasion resistance and high sensitivity.
Upon unboxing, the line felt smooth and supple, noticeably different from some of the coarser braids I’ve used in the past. The low-vis green color appeared consistent throughout the spool, and the diameter seemed accurate for a 20lb test line. The line felt well-constructed, giving an initial impression of quality materials and meticulous manufacturing.
Compared to other braided lines I’ve used, such as PowerPro and SpiderWire Stealth, the Sufix 832 Advanced stood out due to its smoother texture and the incorporation of the GORE Performance Fiber. I chose this line hoping for improved casting distance, reduced line noise through the guides, and superior abrasion resistance compared to my existing braids. My first impression was cautiously optimistic; the line felt premium, and I was eager to put it through its paces.
Real-World Testing: Putting Sufix 832 Advanced 20lb Superline to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the Sufix 832 Advanced 20lb Superline was on a bass fishing trip to a local lake known for its dense vegetation and submerged timber. I spooled it onto my baitcasting reel and paired it with a heavy-duty flipping stick. The line immediately impressed me with its smooth casting performance; it flew off the spool with minimal friction, resulting in noticeably longer casts compared to my previous line.
The line performed admirably in the challenging conditions of heavy cover. It sliced through vegetation with ease and held up well against the abrasive surfaces of submerged logs and rocks. I experienced no break-offs or noticeable fraying after several hours of fishing around these structures. I found the line to be very easy to manage; it didn’t dig into the spool and had minimal memory.
There were no issues or surprises with the line after the first use. The color remained vibrant, and the line retained its suppleness. I was particularly impressed by the sensitivity of the line; I could feel even the most subtle bites, translating into more hooksets and landed fish.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the Sufix 832 Advanced 20lb Superline has continued to impress me. It has proven to be exceptionally durable, showing minimal signs of wear and tear despite being subjected to harsh conditions. The color retention is also noteworthy; the line hasn’t faded significantly, maintaining its low-vis green hue.
Maintenance is simple; a quick rinse with freshwater after each fishing trip is all it takes to keep the line in good condition. I have noticed no issues with fraying, breakage, or loss of sensitivity. Compared to my previous experiences with other braided lines, the Sufix 832 Advanced has outperformed them in terms of durability, casting distance, and sensitivity. It has become my go-to line for fishing in heavy cover and around abrasive structures.
