First Impressions of Strike King Tour Grade Buzzbait
The Strike King Tour Grade Buzzbait promises to be a top-tier offering for anglers looking to trigger aggressive strikes on the water’s surface. Produced by Strike King, a name synonymous with quality and innovation in the fishing world, this buzzbait boasts premium components like a Gamakatsu hook and the company’s exclusive Magic Skirt. My first impression based on initial research is that this is a buzzbait designed for serious anglers who demand reliability and performance.
For years, I’ve struggled to find a buzzbait that consistently runs true and generates the right kind of commotion to entice big bass in heavy cover. Many cheaper buzzbaits either track erratically or lack the durability to withstand repeated use. My hope is that the Strike King Tour Grade Buzzbait solves this problem.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the quality of the materials. The wire frame felt sturdy, the skirt was vibrant and full, and the hook was incredibly sharp. The overall build quality gave me confidence that this buzzbait could handle the rigors of fishing in challenging conditions. Compared to the bargain-bin buzzbaits I’ve used in the past, the Strike King model immediately felt like a step up in quality. I chose it over other options because of Strike King’s reputation and the promise of a straight-tracking design with a premium hook.
Initially, I was excited. The buzzbait looked well-made and ready to fish. I am eager to put it through its paces and see if it lives up to the hype.
Real-World Testing: Putting Strike King Tour Grade Buzzbait to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Strike King Tour Grade Buzzbait on a local lake known for its heavy vegetation and aggressive bass population. I fished it along weed lines, over submerged timber, and around lily pads. The weather was overcast with a slight breeze, perfect conditions for topwater fishing.
The buzzbait performed admirably, tracking straight and creating a noticeable wake. I was able to vary my retrieve speed and the bait consistently produced a consistent buzzing sound, which I believe attracted several strikes. After about two hours of fishing, I landed three bass, all of which were hooked securely.
The only minor issue I encountered was that the skirt became slightly tangled after a particularly violent strike. This was easily remedied.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, the Strike King Tour Grade Buzzbait continues to perform well. The wire frame has held its shape despite multiple encounters with submerged structure, and the skirt remains intact and vibrant. I regularly clean the buzzbait after each use and ensure that the hook remains sharp.
I have noticed minimal signs of wear and tear. The paint on the head has chipped slightly, but this is to be expected with a bait that is designed to be fished in heavy cover. Compared to cheaper buzzbaits that I’ve used in the past, the Strike King Tour Grade Buzzbait has proven to be far more durable and reliable. The Gamakatsu hook also remains razor sharp, even after catching multiple fish.
