Let’s Talk About Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount
The Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount is not just another piece of hardware; it’s a precision instrument designed to ensure your optic sits perfectly, every single time. Crafted by Spuhr, a company renowned for its unwavering commitment to quality and innovation, this mount promises unparalleled repeatability and rock-solid stability for your valuable rifle scope. What sets it apart is the quick-detach mechanism, allowing for rapid scope changes without sacrificing zero.
I needed a mounting solution that could withstand the rigors of demanding tactical scenarios while maintaining absolute zero retention after repeated removal and reattachment. After experiencing frustrating shifts in point of impact with cheaper mounts, I knew I needed a no-compromise solution. The Spuhr name kept appearing in discussions among seasoned long-range shooters and tactical professionals, so I decided to give the Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount a try.
Upon unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the sheer quality of the construction. The mount felt incredibly solid and precisely machined, exuding an air of confidence. It has a reassuring weight without being overly bulky, and the finish is flawless, indicating meticulous attention to detail.
I was also considering mounts from American Rifle Company (ARC) and Badger Ordnance, both respected names in the industry. However, the Spuhr‘s integrated bubble level and reputation for superior repeatability ultimately swayed my decision. The modularity offered by Spuhr‘s accessory integration was also a significant factor.
My initial excitement was tempered with a healthy dose of skepticism, given the price tag. However, the promise of repeatable accuracy and quick detach functionality had me eager to put it through its paces. If it lives up to the hype, the Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount is well worth the investment.
Real-World Testing: Putting Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing ground was the shooting range, focusing on a precision AR-10 platform chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I wanted to assess zero retention and ease of repeated mounting and dismounting. The optic was a high-end Schmidt & Bender PMII with a 36mm tube.
The Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount performed flawlessly, maintaining zero even after multiple removals and reattachments. I also tested it during a moderately dusty range day, and the mount’s tight tolerances prevented any grit from interfering with the quick-detach mechanism. This instilled confidence in its performance in less-than-ideal conditions.
It took mere seconds to detach and reattach the scope, and the lever system was intuitive and easy to operate, even with gloves. There was absolutely no perceptible shift in point of impact, confirming the mount’s impressive repeatability. This ease of use was a pleasant surprise.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount continues to perform exceptionally well. It has become an indispensable part of my precision rifle setup. The mount has seen use in various weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, without any degradation in performance.
There are no signs of wear and tear beyond some minor cosmetic scuffs, attesting to the durability of the materials and finish. The Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount is easy to clean with a simple wipe-down using a microfiber cloth. I’ve also occasionally used a small brush to remove any accumulated dust or debris from the QD lever mechanism.
Previously, I used a LaRue Tactical QD mount, which was decent but lacked the rigidity and repeatability of the Spuhr. The Spuhr 36mm Quick Detachable Rifle Scope Mount noticeably outperforms it in terms of zero retention and overall robustness. It has exceeded my expectations, solidifying its position as a premium mounting solution.
