Let’s Talk About Spiderwire SS40BC-1500 Stealth Camo Blue 40lb 1500yd 1370457
Braided fishing line has revolutionized the angling world, offering unparalleled strength and sensitivity compared to monofilament or fluorocarbon. Among the many brands vying for a spot on your reel, Spiderwire stands out as a consistent innovator. I’m excited to share my experience with the Spiderwire SS40BC-1500 Stealth Camo Blue 40lb 1500yd 1370457, a braided line designed for stealth and power in blue water environments.
My need for this line stemmed from a growing frustration with the limitations of monofilament when targeting larger predatory fish in saltwater. I needed a line that could handle the abrasion of structure, provide excellent sensitivity for detecting subtle strikes, and offer a low-visibility profile in clear blue waters.
Upon receiving the Spiderwire spool, I was immediately impressed with the tight weave and smooth texture. The blue camo color pattern looked great and seemed effective at blending in with various underwater conditions. The line felt incredibly strong and thin for its 40lb test rating.
Compared to my existing PowerPro and Sufix braids, the Spiderwire felt smoother, and the color seemed more vibrant. I chose the Spiderwire SS40BC-1500 Stealth Camo Blue 40lb 1500yd 1370457 for its specific color profile and reputation for abrasion resistance, hoping it would be the ultimate solution for my saltwater fishing needs. My initial impression was one of excitement and anticipation.
Real-World Testing: Putting Spiderwire SS40BC-1500 Stealth Camo Blue 40lb 1500yd 1370457 to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the Spiderwire was on a weekend fishing trip targeting striped bass in the Chesapeake Bay. The conditions were typical for the region – clear blue water, moderate current, and rocky bottom structure. I spooled the line onto a Shimano Talica 12II reel mounted on a sturdy St. Croix Avid Inshore rod.
The line cast incredibly smoothly and effortlessly, shooting through the guides with minimal friction. I noticed a significant improvement in casting distance compared to my previous monofilament setup. The sensitivity was also outstanding. I could feel every bump, rock, and subtle strike as I worked my jig along the bottom.
There were no immediate issues. The line performed flawlessly, and I landed several quality striped bass, all thanks to the line’s sensitivity and strength.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Spiderwire has proven to be remarkably durable. There are minimal signs of wear and tear, even after numerous encounters with rocks, barnacles, and toothy fish. The color has faded slightly, but not to a degree that compromises its effectiveness.
Maintenance is simple; I rinse the line with fresh water after each use and occasionally treat it with a line conditioner. Compared to other braided lines I’ve used, the Spiderwire SS40BC-1500 Stealth Camo Blue 40lb 1500yd 1370457 has exceeded my expectations in terms of both durability and performance.

The 0.013″ diameter is remarkably thin for a 40lb braid, providing excellent casting distance and reduced water resistance. It’s designed with Dyneema PE microfibers, known for their exceptional strength and no-stretch properties.
