Let’s Talk About Spiderwire SCS65G-200 Stealth Moss Green 65lb 200yd 1374603
The Spiderwire SCS65G-200 Stealth Moss Green 65lb 200yd 1374603 is a braided fishing line designed for anglers who demand strength, sensitivity, and stealth. Manufactured by SpiderWire, this line utilizes Dyneema fibers to achieve impressive breaking strength and near-zero stretch. It’s available in a low-visibility moss green color, which helps it blend into underwater environments, making it less likely to spook fish.
I’ve been targeting increasingly wily bass in heavily pressured local lakes. The need for a line that could handle heavy cover, provide excellent sensitivity for detecting subtle strikes, and remain virtually invisible to wary fish led me to the Spiderwire Stealth.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was how thin the Spiderwire felt for its stated 65lb breaking strength. The moss green color was also darker and more muted than I expected, which seemed perfect for blending into the murky waters where I typically fish. The line felt smooth to the touch, suggesting good castability.
I considered PowerPro and Sufix 832, two other popular braided lines, but I went with Spiderwire due to its reputation for superior stealth and abrasion resistance in heavy cover. My initial impression was excitement. If the Spiderwire SCS65G-200 Stealth Moss Green 65lb 200yd 1374603 lived up to its claims, it would be a game-changer for my fishing.
Real-World Testing: Putting Spiderwire SCS65G-200 Stealth Moss Green 65lb 200yd 1374603 to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the Spiderwire was on a local lake known for its dense lily pads and submerged timber. I paired it with a heavy-action casting rod and a baitcasting reel, targeting bass with Texas-rigged worms and flipping jigs. The line handled beautifully in the heavy cover.
The Spiderwire Stealth performed admirably in both wet and sunny conditions. Even after submersion in muddy water and contact with abrasive lily pad stems, the line showed no signs of degradation. It was incredibly easy to feel even the slightest nibble from bass buried deep in the vegetation.
The line required no special preparation. Spooling it onto my reel was straightforward and casting felt natural from the first cast.
I did notice a slight “whistling” sound as the line passed through the guides on my rod, especially when casting into the wind. This was easily overlooked, given the line’s performance.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Spiderwire SCS65G-200 Stealth Moss Green 65lb 200yd 1374603 has proven to be exceptionally reliable. The color has faded slightly but remains effective, and the line has retained its strength and sensitivity. I have yet to experience any unexpected breakages or significant wear.
The Spiderwire has proven to be extremely durable, showing only minor fraying near the lure after extensive use. I’ve fished it around rocks, submerged timber, and heavy vegetation.
Minimal maintenance is required; simply rinsing the line with fresh water after each trip has been sufficient to keep it in good condition. Compared to monofilament lines I’ve used in the past, the Spiderwire offers significantly better sensitivity and hook-setting power. It outperforms other braided lines in terms of stealth.
