First Impressions of Sordin Supreme Pro-X SFA Headset
As an outdoor and tactical gear specialist with over a decade of experience, I’ve seen countless hearing protection devices come and go, each promising the world but often falling short in real-world scenarios. The Sordin Supreme Pro-X SFA Headset immediately caught my eye with its claims of military-grade durability, superior audio reproduction, and a high noise reduction rating (NRR). Could this headset finally bridge the gap between robust hearing protection and clear situational awareness?
My need for this product stemmed from years of exposure to loud environments, ranging from shooting ranges to construction sites. I was specifically searching for a headset offering both exceptional noise reduction and the ability to clearly hear surrounding sounds for safety and communication. The promise of the Sordin Supreme Pro-X SFA Headset to deliver both, particularly in extreme noise environments, was a major selling point.
Unboxing the Sordin Supreme Pro-X SFA Headset, I was immediately impressed by the solid feel and the quality of the materials. The leather headband felt premium and comfortable, and the earcups appeared robust, yet surprisingly compact. Compared to other bulky tactical headsets I’ve used, the Sordin Supreme Pro-X SFA Headset felt streamlined and well-designed. I considered the Peltor ComTac series and MSA Sordin Supreme Pro (non-SFA) before landing on this, prioritizing the higher SNR and ARC-rail compatibility of the SFA model, along with the improved fit claim. My initial excitement was palpable – this headset felt like a serious piece of gear.
Real-World Testing: Putting Sordin Supreme Pro-X SFA Headset to the Test
First Use Experience
My first real test for the Sordin Supreme Pro-X SFA Headset was at an outdoor shooting range. The environment was noisy, with multiple shooters firing various calibers. I tested the headset while shooting my AR-15, as well as while observing other shooters with louder rifles. The headset was comfortable to wear and easy to adjust.
The level of noise reduction was immediately noticeable. Gunshots were significantly muffled, yet I could still clearly hear range commands and conversations. The sound amplification was surprisingly natural; I didn’t experience the tinny or artificial sound quality that plagues many electronic hearing protection devices. There were no initial issues; everything performed as advertised.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Sordin Supreme Pro-X SFA Headset continues to impress. I’ve used it at indoor and outdoor ranges, construction sites, and even during a hunting trip. The headset has proven to be remarkably durable. There are no signs of wear and tear on the headband or earcups.
Maintenance is simple, requiring only a wipe-down with a damp cloth after each use. The headset has consistently outperformed other hearing protection devices I’ve used, particularly in terms of sound quality and comfort. I am confident in its reliability for long-term use.
