Sightron SI Series 3-9x32mm 1 inch Tube Rifle Scope, Second Focal Plane (SFP) Review

Let’s Dive into Sightron SI Series 3-9x32mm 1 inch Tube Rifle Scope, Second Focal Plane (SFP)

The Sightron SI Series 3-9x32mm 1 inch Tube Rifle Scope, Second Focal Plane (SFP) is designed with the .22LR shooter in mind, offering a lightweight and compact optic for small game hunting and target practice. Manufactured by Sightron, this scope promises clarity, durability, and ease of use, all at a price point that won’t break the bank.

I’ve spent countless hours refining my rimfire skills, and a clear, reliable optic is paramount. Many scopes promise the world, but few deliver the precision and light gathering needed for those twilight shots when squirrels are most active.

The Sightron arrived in a simple, functional box, well-protected by foam inserts. My initial impression was positive; it felt solid without being bulky, and the matte finish looked clean and understated. The adjustments clicked with a reassuring firmness.

I considered scopes from Leupold and Vortex, known for their quality, but their rimfire options were either significantly more expensive or lacked the specific features I desired for my lightweight .22 rifle. The Sightron’s combination of magnification range, fixed parallax at 50 yards, and fine crosshair reticle seemed like the perfect blend for my needs.

My first impression was one of cautious optimism. I was excited by the potential but aware that budget-friendly optics sometimes cut corners. However, the initial feel and clarity suggested this Sightron might just surprise me.

Real-World Testing: Putting Sightron SI Series 3-9x32mm 1 inch Tube Rifle Scope, Second Focal Plane (SFP) to the Test

First Use Experience

My first test was at my local shooting range, zeroing the scope on my Ruger 10/22 at 50 yards. The weather was overcast, and the range was dimly lit, providing a challenging test for light transmission. The adjustments were easy to dial in, and the reticle was crisp and clear even in the less-than-ideal lighting.

I also took the Sightron out on a squirrel hunt a week later in mixed conditions, from bright sunlight to shaded forest. The scope performed admirably in all situations, providing a clear sight picture and allowing for accurate shot placement. I immediately appreciated the fixed parallax at 50 yards making target acquisition fast and easy.

Mounting was straightforward using standard 1-inch rings. I did appreciate the capped turrets giving it a sleek low profile appearance. There were no real issues during zeroing.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the Sightron has held up remarkably well. There are no noticeable scratches on the body, and the lenses remain clear. The scope has proven durable and reliable with no internal fogging or zero shift.

I’ve cleaned the lenses regularly with a microfiber cloth and lens cleaner, and the matte finish wipes down easily. The scope has held zero consistently even after being bumped around in my gun case. This is a huge advantage!

This Sightron outperforms other budget scopes I’ve used in the past. I would put it up against more expensive scopes with no hesitation. It has exceeded my expectations, proving to be a reliable and accurate optic for my .22 rifle.
