SHURFLO EV959206 Everpure Adc Quick Change Full Timer Cartridge Review

Let’s Dive into SHURFLO EV959206 Everpure Adc Quick Change Full Timer Cartridge

The SHURFLO EV959206 Everpure Adc Quick Change Full Timer Cartridge is a replacement water filter designed to integrate seamlessly with Everpure QL2/QL3 water treatment systems. It boasts a quick-change design, simplifying the replacement process, and utilizes a Micro-Pure filter to reduce chlorine taste and odor, dirt, rust, cysts, and asbestos down to 1/2 micron. This cartridge aims to deliver cleaner, better-tasting water for various applications, lasting up to one year or 700 gallons.

My journey to this filter cartridge started when I was setting up a remote hunting camp. Clean water is paramount, and lugging heavy water jugs was simply not an option. I needed a reliable filtration system that could deliver potable water from a natural source without compromising space or convenience, and the Everpure system, with its promise of easy filter changes, seemed like the ideal solution.

My initial impression was positive; the SHURFLO EV959206 cartridge felt solid and well-constructed. The quick-change mechanism looked genuinely user-friendly, and the advertised filtration capabilities were reassuring. The design seemed geared towards simplicity and ease of maintenance, which are crucial factors in an off-grid setting.

I considered a few alternatives, including inline filters from Sawyer and gravity-fed systems from Katadyn. I ultimately chose the SHURFLO EV959206 because it integrated into a larger, more robust system, offering potentially longer-term reliability and higher flow rates than the portable options. The promised reduction of asbestos, in particular, was a key selling point given the uncertain geological composition of my chosen water source.

I was cautiously optimistic, hoping this cartridge would deliver on its promises of clean, great-tasting water with minimal hassle. The real test, however, would be in the field.

Real-World Testing: Putting SHURFLO EV959206 Everpure Adc Quick Change Full Timer Cartridge to the Test

First Use Experience

My testing ground was indeed that remote hunting camp in the Montana backcountry. Water was sourced from a mountain stream that, while visually clear, had the potential for contamination. I installed the SHURFLO EV959206 Everpure Adc Quick Change Full Timer Cartridge into the Everpure QL3 head with minimal effort.

The cartridge performed admirably in its initial run. The water produced was noticeably clearer and had no discernible taste or odor, a significant improvement over the untreated stream water. The flow rate was consistent and adequate for filling water bottles and cooking pots.

I encountered no immediate issues, although I was initially concerned about the filter’s performance in colder conditions, as the stream water was near freezing. Luckily, the cartridge continued to function normally without any noticeable reduction in flow rate.

Extended Use & Reliability

After a full hunting season (approximately three months) of continuous use, the SHURFLO EV959206 Everpure Adc Quick Change Full Timer Cartridge held up surprisingly well. There were no signs of leakage or degradation in performance. The water quality remained consistently high.

Durability was never a concern. The cartridge is encased in a robust plastic housing that showed no signs of wear and tear despite being subjected to some rough handling during transport and installation. Maintaining the system was straightforward; a simple wipe-down of the exterior was all that was required.

Compared to my previous experiences with boiling water for purification, the SHURFLO EV959206 cartridge was a game-changer. It offered significantly improved water quality, eliminated the need for fuel and time-consuming boiling, and provided a continuous supply of potable water. It exceeded my expectations in terms of both performance and convenience.
