Let’s Dive into Safariland Springfield XDM 6360 LVL3 Holster
The Safariland Springfield XDM 6360 LVL3 Holster is a duty-grade holster designed for law enforcement, military personnel, and security professionals who require a secure and readily accessible method of carrying their Springfield XDM pistol. Safariland is a name synonymous with quality and innovation in the world of law enforcement and tactical gear, and this holster exemplifies that reputation with its robust construction and multi-level retention system. The combination of the Automatic Locking System (ALS) and Self Locking System (SLS) provides Level III retention, ensuring the firearm remains secure even in demanding situations, while still allowing for a smooth and rapid draw when needed.
As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve dealt with my fair share of holsters, but the need for a secure, yet quickly accessible, method of carrying a full-sized firearm on duty was paramount. My search centered around finding a holster that offered more than just basic retention; it needed to withstand the rigors of daily use, provide reliable security, and facilitate a consistently fast draw. I was also searching for a holster that would be compatible with my specific firearm.
Upon unboxing the Safariland Springfield XDM 6360 LVL3 Holster, I was immediately struck by its solid construction and attention to detail. The holster felt substantial in hand, hinting at its durability, and the molded design perfectly matched the contours of my Springfield XDM. Its weight was noticeable but felt reassuring, indicative of the heavy-duty materials used.
Compared to other Level III retention holsters I’ve used, such as those from Blackhawk! and Bianchi, the Safariland felt more refined, especially in the smoothness of the ALS and SLS mechanisms. I chose the Safariland over these alternatives due to its reputation for reliability and its specifically designed fit for the Springfield XDM, promising superior retention and draw speed. I was definitely excited about putting it to the test, hoping it would live up to the hype and provide the perfect balance of security and accessibility I needed.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland Springfield XDM 6360 LVL3 Holster to the Test
First Use Experience

The Safariland Springfield XDM 6360 LVL3 Holster performed admirably, allowing for a consistently smooth and secure draw.
The holster also underwent testing in various weather conditions. I tested the holster in light rain and moderate wind. The retention mechanisms remained fully functional even when wet, and the finish showed no signs of degradation after exposure to the elements. It did take a little getting used to the ALS and SLS systems; however, after a few practice draws, the movements became natural and fluid. There were no unexpected issues during the first range session.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Safariland Springfield XDM 6360 LVL3 Holster has proven its durability and reliability. There are only minor scuff marks on the outer surface of the holster. The ALS and SLS mechanisms continue to function smoothly, without any binding or sticking.
Maintenance has been straightforward; a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth after each use keeps the holster clean and functional. The holster has exceeded my expectations. It offers a level of security and accessibility that inspires confidence in high-pressure situations, surpassing the performance of previous holsters I’ve used.
