First Impressions of Safariland Model 6354rdso Als Holster W/ Qls19 Fork For Sig Sauer P320 Rx 9c W/ Light 6354RDSO-7502
As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen countless holsters come and go. However, the Safariland Model 6354rdso Als Holster W/ Qls19 Fork For Sig Sauer P320 Rx 9c W/ Light immediately caught my eye due to its specific design for red dot sights and weapon-mounted lights on the Sig Sauer P320 platform. Safariland is a name synonymous with quality and reliability in the law enforcement and military communities, and I was eager to see if this holster lived up to their reputation.
My need for this particular holster stemmed from a recent upgrade to my Sig Sauer P320 RX Compact, which included both a Trijicon RMR and a Streamlight TLR-1HL. Existing holsters were either incompatible or offered inadequate retention. I needed a secure, reliable, and fast-draw solution that could accommodate these attachments, and the Safariland 6354rdso seemed like the perfect fit.
Upon receiving the holster, my first impression was overwhelmingly positive. The MultiCam finish looked fantastic, and the overall construction felt incredibly robust. The materials were clearly high-quality, and the stitching was clean and precise, indicating a serious commitment to craftsmanship.
Compared to other duty-style holsters I’ve used, such as those from Blackhawk and Blade-Tech, the Safariland stood out for its intuitive Automatic Locking System (ALS) and the included QLS 19 fork. This quick locking system is superior to other retention designs. The Blackhawk Serpa, while popular, always felt a bit clunky and less secure, while the Blade-Tech offered excellent retention but lacked the rapid draw capability of the Safariland.
My initial excitement was definitely justified. The Safariland Model 6354rdso promised a blend of security, speed, and compatibility that I desperately needed, and my first inspection suggested that it would deliver on all fronts.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland Model 6354rdso Als Holster W/ Qls19 Fork For Sig Sauer P320 Rx 9c W/ Light 6354RDSO-7502 to the Test
First Use Experience
My first real-world test of the Safariland Model 6354rdso took place at my local shooting range, where I typically spend several hours a week practicing various drills. The weather was partly cloudy, with a slight drizzle – not ideal conditions, but a good test of the holster’s ability to perform even when wet. I also tested it at an outdoor training course in dry, dusty conditions.
The initial draw from the holster was surprisingly smooth and intuitive. The ALS system disengaged easily with a thumb swipe, allowing for a quick and clean presentation of the P320. Re-holstering was equally straightforward, with the ALS automatically engaging to secure the firearm. I immediately felt comfortable with this setup.
There were no issues or surprises during this initial use. The holster performed flawlessly, and I was immediately impressed with its speed and security. The red dot sight was well-protected by the open pocket design, and the Streamlight TLR-1HL was securely accommodated without any wobble or movement.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Safariland Model 6354rdso has continued to impress. It has become my go-to holster for both range practice and field exercises. I have used it on numerous occasions, including a force-on-force training event.
The holster has proven to be incredibly durable. There are no signs of wear and tear beyond some minor cosmetic scuffs, which are to be expected with heavy use. The ALS system still functions perfectly, and the QLS 19 fork remains securely attached to my belt.
Maintenance is simple. I typically wipe down the holster with a damp cloth after each use and occasionally apply a silicone-based lubricant to the ALS mechanism to ensure smooth operation. So far, I have not needed to perform any repairs or adjustments.
Compared to my previous experiences with other duty holsters, the Safariland 6354rdso is a clear winner. It offers a superior combination of speed, security, and durability, and its compatibility with red dot sights and weapon-mounted lights makes it an ideal choice for modern tactical applications.
