This holster promises a blend of retention, speed, and adaptability, all crucial factors in high-stress situations.
For years, I struggled to find a holster that truly accommodated the red dot sights I’d begun integrating onto my pistols. Off-the-shelf options often felt like afterthoughts, lacking the secure fit and smooth draw I needed. This led me on a quest for a holster that could seamlessly integrate with my optic-equipped handguns, providing both security and rapid access.
My first impression upon unboxing the Safariland 6354DO was one of ruggedness and purposeful design. The Cordura nylon wrap felt incredibly durable, and the overall construction appeared robust, ready to withstand the rigors of tactical use. It had a substantial, yet not cumbersome, weight that suggested quality materials and construction.
I considered several other optic-compatible holsters, including models from Blade-Tech and Blackhawk, but Safariland’s reputation for active retention systems and its widespread use in law enforcement ultimately swayed my decision. The ALS (Automatic Locking System) promised a secure hold without sacrificing draw speed, a critical factor for me.
