This particular model, one of eight variations, features a buckle closure combined with a Velcro lining for enhanced security and adjustability.
My previous experiences with cheaper belts leaving me with sore hips and gear shifting incessantly drove me to seek a serious upgrade. I was looking for a belt that could comfortably support the weight of my holster, magazine pouches, and other essential items without sagging or digging into my skin. This belt promised both support and adjustability, ticking all the boxes.
Upon unboxing, the belt felt substantial, indicating quality construction. The materials felt durable and the buckle had a reassuring heft. The Velcro lining was neatly integrated, suggesting a thoughtful design focused on both security and comfort. I had considered the 5.11 Tactical Sierra Bravo Duty Belt and the Blackhawk! Enhanced Duty Belt, but the Safariland offering seemed to strike a better balance between rigidity and comfort. The other belts often felt either too stiff or lacked the necessary support for heavier loads. The Safariland Border Patrol Buckle Belt w/ Velcro, – 1 out of 8 models immediately felt like the right choice. I was excited to put it to the test and see if it lived up to its promise.

The belt was loaded with my usual duty gear, including a pistol in a Safariland 7TS ALS holster, two magazine pouches, a radio pouch, and a multi-tool.
The weather was warm and sunny, leading to some sweat. Despite these conditions, the belt remained comfortable and secure throughout the day. The buckle and Velcro closure system worked perfectly. I didn’t need to make any adjustments after the initial setup. There were no pressure points or uncomfortable chafing.
The only minor issue was adjusting to the thickness of the belt when drawing from my holster. The added stiffness compared to my previous belt required a slight adjustment in my draw stroke, but I quickly adapted. Overall, the first use was a resounding success.
