Breaking Down the Features of Safariland 6390rdso – Als Mid-ride Duty Rated Level I Retention Holster 6390RDSO-832-702

Specifications

• ALS (Automatic Locking System): This is Safariland‘s signature retention system. It secures the firearm upon holstering and releases with a simple thumb activation, providing Level I retention.
• RDS (Red Dot Sight) Compatible Design: The holster is specifically molded to accommodate pistols equipped with red dot sights. This open pocket design protects the optic without needing a cumbersome flip-up dust cover.
• Mid-Ride Belt Loop: The mid-ride belt loop positions the firearm at an optimal height for a smooth and natural draw. It also keeps the weapon close to the body for improved concealment and comfort.

These specifications translate directly into improved performance and user experience. The ALS provides peace of mind, knowing the weapon is secure, while the RDS compatibility allows for seamless integration with modern optics. The mid-ride height balances accessibility with concealment, making it a comfortable and practical choice for duty or concealed carry.

Performance & Functionality

The Safariland 6390rdso excels at its primary function: securely and reliably carrying a firearm with a red dot sight. The ALS system is intuitive and efficient, allowing for a fast and consistent draw. The holster retains the weapon effectively, preventing accidental dislodging during strenuous activity.

The only minor area for potential improvement would be the smoothness of the internal molding. While perfectly functional, a slightly smoother interior finish could further reduce friction during the draw stroke. Overall, the holster meets and exceeds expectations for performance and reliability.

Design & Ergonomics

The 6390RDSO boasts a thoughtfully designed and ergonomic profile. The materials used are high-quality and durable, providing a solid feel without excessive weight. The mid-ride design distributes the weight evenly, enhancing comfort during extended wear.

There is virtually no learning curve, and the ALS system is easily mastered with a few practice draws. The holster feels like a natural extension of the body, allowing for seamless and efficient weapon deployment.

Durability & Maintenance

The Safariland 6390rdso is built to last. The durable construction and high-quality materials ensure it can withstand the rigors of daily use in demanding environments. The simple design makes maintenance easy; a quick wipe-down is usually sufficient to keep it clean and functioning optimally.

With proper care, this holster should provide years of reliable service. It represents a solid investment for anyone serious about their personal or professional safety.
