First Impressions of Safariland 6390rds – Als Mid-ride Duty Rated Level I Retention Holster 6390RDS-2832-481-NH

The Safariland 6390rds – Als Mid-ride Duty Rated Level I Retention Holster 6390RDS-2832-481-NH is a holster specifically designed for firearms equipped with red dot sights, a necessity in today’s tactical and law enforcement environments. Safariland is a name synonymous with quality and reliability in the holster world, and this model builds upon their reputation with the Automatic Locking System (ALS) and a mid-ride belt loop. It promises a secure Level I retention with a focus on quick and intuitive drawing, appealing to both seasoned professionals and serious firearm enthusiasts.

My need for this holster arose from a recent upgrade to my duty pistol, adding a red dot sight. I was previously using a standard Safariland holster, but the optic rendered it incompatible. I needed a secure, duty-rated holster that could accommodate the red dot without sacrificing draw speed or retention.

My initial impression upon unboxing the Safariland 6390rds – Als Mid-ride Duty Rated Level I Retention Holster 6390RDS-2832-481-NH was positive. The holster felt robust and well-made. The materials appeared durable, and the finish was clean and professional.

I considered other options, including models from Blackhawk and Galco. However, I ultimately chose the Safariland for its proven track record, the ALS retention system, and the mid-ride height, which I find provides a good balance of accessibility and concealment. Other holsters either lacked the necessary optic compatibility or didn’t offer the same level of retention security that Safariland is known for.

I was excited to test the Safariland 6390rds – Als Mid-ride Duty Rated Level I Retention Holster 6390RDS-2832-481-NH. The anticipation of a secure and reliable holster that seamlessly integrates with my red dot sight made me eager to put it through its paces.
