Let’s Dive into Safariland 6360 ALS Level III w/ Ride UBL Holster – Basket Black, Left Hand 6360-7742-82
The Safariland 6360 ALS Level III w/ Ride UBL Holster – Basket Black, Left Hand 6360-7742-82 is more than just a holster; it’s a duty-grade piece of equipment designed for professionals who demand the highest level of security and performance. Safariland, a name synonymous with quality and innovation in law enforcement and tactical gear, has engineered this holster to provide Level III Retention, ensuring your weapon stays secure until you need it. The inclusion of the Ride UBL (Universal Belt Loop) allows for comfortable, mid-ride carry, making it an ideal choice for those who spend long hours on duty.
I’ve spent years searching for a holster that balances security with a smooth, natural draw. My old Level II holster felt inadequate given recent changes in my patrol area requiring a higher level of threat mitigation. I needed a Level III retention holster that wouldn’t impede my ability to quickly and efficiently deploy my sidearm.
The holster arrived in a simple, yet professional package – a hallmark of Safariland products. The basket weave pattern on the black finish immediately gave it a classic, yet tactical look. The construction felt incredibly solid, with no noticeable flex or weak points.
I considered the Blackhawk! Serpa Level 3 and the Bianchi Accumold Elite 7906. I chose the Safariland 6360 ALS Level III w/ Ride UBL Holster – Basket Black, Left Hand 6360-7742-82 due to Safariland’s reputation for reliability, the proven ALS (Automatic Locking System), and the comfortable Ride UBL. The Blackhawk! Serpa, while popular, has generated some debate around its release mechanism, and the Bianchi lacked the streamlined profile I was after. I was eager to see if it would live up to my expectations.
My first impression was overwhelmingly positive. The holster exuded quality and felt incredibly secure. I was excited to integrate it into my daily carry and see how it performed under real-world conditions.

First Use Experience
I tested the Safariland 6360 ALS Level III w/ Ride UBL Holster – Basket Black, Left Hand 6360-7742-82 during a week-long patrol shift in a high-activity urban environment. The holster performed admirably in both dry and humid conditions. The ALS system engaged flawlessly, and the release was intuitive after a few practice draws. I didn’t experience any issues with moisture affecting the retention or release mechanisms.
The initial learning curve was minimal. The ALS system requires a specific thumb movement to disengage, but after a couple of hours of practice, it became second nature. I found the Ride UBL positioned the weapon perfectly for a smooth, consistent draw stroke.
The only minor issue was the initial stiffness of the hood guard. After a few days of use, it loosened up and became easier to manipulate. I was initially surprised by how secure the Level III retention felt.

This simple maintenance routine keeps it functioning like new.
This holster significantly outperforms my previous Level II holster in terms of security and draw speed. The peace of mind provided by the Level III retention is invaluable. The Safariland 6360 ALS Level III w/ Ride UBL Holster – Basket Black, Left Hand 6360-7742-82 is a game-changer.
