For years, I relied on a standard belt holster, but it lacked the stability and accessibility required for dynamic training scenarios. I needed a holster that could keep my sidearm secure during rigorous movement, while still allowing for a fast, intuitive draw under pressure. The Safariland 6355 ALS Tactical w/Quick-Release Leg Harness Holster seemed to offer the perfect balance of security and speed.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the ruggedness of the construction. The STX finish felt incredibly durable, and the overall weight of the holster and harness system inspired confidence. The ALS mechanism moved smoothly, and the quick-release buckles on the leg harness appeared robust and well-designed.
Compared to other leg holsters I’ve seen, the Safariland 6355 ALS Tactical w/Quick-Release Leg Harness Holster stood out due to its streamlined design and reputation for reliability. Some competing models felt bulky or had retention systems that were less intuitive. The Safariland promised a more refined and dependable experience.

The holster performed admirably in dry conditions, providing a secure and consistent draw every time. The ALS system engaged positively and released smoothly with minimal training. Even during rapid movement and awkward shooting positions, my Glock 17 remained firmly in place.
The ease of use was a pleasant surprise. After a few practice draws, the ALS system became second nature. The quick-release buckles on the leg harness also proved convenient, allowing me to quickly don and doff the holster as needed.
The only minor issue was adjusting the leg straps to achieve the optimal fit. It took a few adjustments to find the sweet spot where the holster was secure but didn’t restrict my movement. This is not so much an issue as it is the nature of getting a secure fit.

Maintaining the holster is simple. I regularly wipe it down with a damp cloth and apply a small amount of lubricant to the ALS mechanism. This minimal maintenance keeps the holster in top condition.
