What Makes Safariland 6355 ALS Tactical Holster w/Quick – 1 out of 3 models Stand Out?
The Safariland 6355 ALS Tactical Holster w/Quick – 1 out of 3 models is more than just a piece of kit; it’s a trusted companion for professionals who demand speed, security, and reliability. Manufactured by Safariland, this holster features their renowned Automatic Locking System (ALS), coupled with a quick-release mechanism, making it an ideal choice for law enforcement, military personnel, and serious tactical shooters.
After years of struggling with retention holsters that were either too slow or not secure enough, I needed a holster that offered a balance of both. The combination of the ALS system and quick-release functionality immediately caught my attention, promising a significant upgrade in both speed and security.
The Safariland 6355 arrived in a no-nonsense package, immediately conveying the Safariland brand’s commitment to function over flash. Picking it up, the first thing I noticed was its robust construction and the quality of the STX Tactical finish. It felt solid and well-made, instilling confidence that it could withstand the rigors of daily use.
I previously used a Blackhawk Serpa holster and a traditional thumb-break leather holster. The Safariland 6355 won out due to its superior retention system and smoother draw compared to the Serpa, and its modern design and enhanced security compared to the older leather holster.
My initial reaction was excitement. This holster appeared to be the perfect blend of speed, security, and durability that I had been searching for.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland 6355 ALS Tactical Holster w/Quick – 1 out of 3 models to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing ground for the Safariland 6355 was at a local shooting range during a force-on-force training exercise. I also used it while assisting local law enforcement with search and rescue operations in dense wooded areas.
The holster performed exceptionally well, even in the challenging conditions of a simulated firefight and heavy rain. The ALS system allowed for a fast, fluid draw, and the quick-release mechanism proved invaluable when transitioning between carrying positions. It held the weapon securely during rigorous movement while assisting local law enforcement.
Getting accustomed to the ALS system took a few draws, but the motion soon became intuitive and natural. The thumb release is perfectly positioned for a natural grip, and the draw stroke is smooth and consistent.
The only initial issue was minor – a slight stiffness in the ALS release, which smoothed out after a few hours of use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Safariland 6355 has proven its worth. The STX Tactical finish shows minimal signs of wear, and the holster continues to function flawlessly.
The holster’s durability is outstanding. Even after repeated exposure to mud, rain, and abrasion, there are no signs of cracking or degradation. Cleaning is simple – a quick wipe down with a damp cloth keeps it looking and functioning like new.
Compared to my previous holsters, the Safariland 6355 offers a significant improvement in both security and draw speed. It has exceeded my expectations in every way, offering a level of performance and reliability that is essential in high-stakes situations.
