Let’s Dive into Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL
The Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL is a duty belt accessory designed for law enforcement and security personnel. Manufactured by Safariland, this holder offers a secure and accessible way to carry both a tactical light and an Electronic Disturbance Weapon (EDW) cartridge. This combination offers rapid access to two essential tools needed in dynamic operational environments.
As a seasoned tactical gear specialist, I’ve always sought streamlined solutions for optimizing my loadout. My biggest frustration has always been the bulkiness of carrying separate pouches for my flashlight and less-lethal options. The Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL immediately caught my eye as a potential solution to this problem.
Upon unboxing, the holder felt robust, the STX Tactical finish giving it a professional and durable appearance. Its weight was negligible, a crucial factor when every ounce counts on a duty belt. The design was simple, yet functional, promising quick access to both my light and EDW cartridges.
Compared to standalone light pouches or generic multi-tool holders, the Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL promised a more integrated and space-saving solution. I considered a few other modular options, but the dedicated design of this Safariland model seemed more streamlined and reliable. My initial excitement was high, hoping that it would deliver on its promise of convenient and efficient gear management.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL during a training exercise simulating low-light building searches. The holder was mounted on my duty belt, carrying an ITI M6X Illuminator Light and two TASER cartridges. The initial draw was smooth, though requiring a slight adjustment to my muscle memory due to the combined carry.
In a simulated wet environment, the flap closure proved effective in keeping the cartridges dry and the light protected. The accessibility remained consistent, regardless of the simulated environmental condition. The ease of use was apparent, but a period of adjustment was necessary to refine my draw technique.
One minor issue emerged after the first few draws: the flap closure required deliberate effort to secure, potentially slowing down re-holstering in a high-stress situation. This needed to be addressed for operational efficiency.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use in training scenarios, the Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL has proven remarkably durable. There were no significant signs of wear and tear beyond minor scuff marks on the STX Tactical finish. The holder remained firmly attached to my belt, even during rigorous physical activity.
Maintenance has been minimal, requiring only occasional wiping down with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. This surpasses my experience with other leather-based holders, which often require regular conditioning. It outperforms similar nylon pouches in terms of structural rigidity and long-term durability.
Breaking Down the Features of Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL
Specifications
The Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL is specifically designed to fit a light carrier with a flap closure and to accommodate 2″ – 2.25″ duty belts. This ensures compatibility with standard law enforcement equipment. Its STX Tactical finish provides a non-reflective, durable surface.
The holder is designed for the ITI M6X Illuminator Light and standard EDW cartridges. This dedicated design enhances the security and retention of both items. The black color and fastener maintain a professional and uniform appearance.
Performance & Functionality
The Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL excels in its primary function: securely carrying and providing rapid access to a tactical light and EDW cartridges. Its integrated design minimizes belt space and reduces clutter. However, the single-item design can limit modularity if your agency uses different flashlights or EDW systems.
The holder’s strength lies in its simplicity and reliability. The flap closure keeps the light and cartridges secure, while the open design allows for a relatively quick draw. Some users may find the flap closure slightly cumbersome compared to open-top designs, but the added security is a significant advantage.
Design & Ergonomics
The build quality is exceptional, utilizing durable materials and precise stitching. The holder is surprisingly lightweight, minimizing strain on the duty belt. The STX Tactical finish offers a comfortable and secure grip, even in wet conditions.
The design is generally user-friendly, although the specific placement on the belt requires some experimentation to find the optimal balance between accessibility and comfort. There is a slight learning curve to master the draw stroke, particularly when accessing the light under pressure.
Durability & Maintenance
The Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL is built to withstand the rigors of daily law enforcement use. The durable materials and robust construction ensure a long service life. Maintenance is straightforward, requiring only occasional cleaning with a damp cloth.
Unlike some leather or nylon holders, the STX Tactical material is resistant to water damage and abrasion. This minimizes the need for specialized cleaning products or treatments.
Accessories and Customization Options
The Safariland 307 Light/EDW Cartridge Holders 307-11-23PBL is specifically designed for the ITI M6X Illuminator Light and standard EDW cartridges, limiting direct customization options. However, the belt loop is compatible with a wide range of duty belts and accessory mounting systems. While direct accessory integration is limited, the holder itself can be easily incorporated into a larger tactical setup.
