My search for a reliable and truly concealable double magazine holder that wouldn’t print through my clothing led me to the Safariland 079. The sleek design and reputation of Safariland products intrigued me.
Out of the box, the Safariland 079 feels solid and well-constructed. The hi-gloss black finish gives it a professional and understated look. It’s surprisingly lightweight, and the snap-on attachment seemed robust enough for everyday carry.
I considered several other double magazine pouches, including offerings from Blade-Tech and Galco. I ultimately chose the Safariland 079 due to Safariland’s proven track record in the law enforcement community. The minimalist design also played a crucial role, as bulkier options often defeat the purpose of concealed carry.

Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland 079 Concealment Double Magazine Holder, – 1 out of 7 models to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the Safariland 079 was at an outdoor shooting range, followed by several days of incorporating it into my everyday concealed carry routine. I needed to assess its performance under practical conditions. This included drawing magazines under pressure and wearing it throughout a normal workday.
The Safariland 079 performed admirably, even when exposed to light rain. The magazines remained securely in place without being difficult to draw. It required very little time to adjust to the draw stroke, which was surprisingly smooth and consistent.
The only initial issue I encountered was slight printing through thinner fabrics. This was easily remedied by adjusting the position of the carrier on my belt and choosing slightly looser clothing.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Safariland 079 has proven to be a reliable and durable piece of gear. There are no visible signs of wear and tear. The snap-on attachment remains secure, and the magazine retention is just as strong as it was on day one.
I’ve found that the Safariland 079 requires minimal maintenance. A quick wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove any dirt or debris. The polymer construction is resistant to scratches and abrasions.
Compared to my previous experience with leather magazine carriers, the Safariland 079 significantly outperforms them in terms of durability, retention, and overall concealability. The polymer construction is far more resistant to moisture and wear than traditional leather.
